In the Nov. 19th update, Bungie said they were buffing auto rifles as follows:
Small increases to base damage. Low RoF (Suros Regime, An Answering Chord): 3% base damage increase Med RoF (Zhalo Supercell, Paleocontact JPK-43): 7% base damage increase High RoF (Arminius-D, Necrochasm): 4% base damage increase
https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Weapon-Tuning--December-Update/en/News/News?aid=14016 Bungie reiterated these numbers on Tuesday's update. Then Bungie abruptly said the numbers were off by a factor of 10, and edited the Tuesday update retroactively.
Small increase to base damage Low RoF (Suros Regime, An Answering Chord): 0.3% increase from previous base damage Med RoF (Zhalo Supercell, Paleocontact JPK-43): 0.7% increase from previous base damage High RoF (Arminius-D, Necrochasm): 0.04% increase from previous base damage
https://www.bungie.net/7_Destiny-Update---12082015/en/News/News?aid=14094 https://twitter.com/sharkeatsman/status/674708152776986624 So what happened? Were the Nov. and Dec. news posts wrong or did Bungie screw up the auto rifle buff and then try to cover it up? Or is this Bungie being obtuse and inadvertently stirring anger and distrust (again). Vote and discuss.

  • Unfortunately (from work experience), a mistake like this is actually really easy to do. That is why peer review is a best practice - to try to catch these errors in house before they are distributed - and mistakes still can occur. I seriously doubt that Bungie has robust peer review controls in order to prevent mistakes like this from happening. So, the people that could recognize the mistake weren't involved in the production of the message and the people involved in the production of the message couldn't recognize the mistake. This highlights the reasons why peer review is a best practice.

Someone dropped the ball bad on this one. How can you say it was a typo when it was up for 2 weeks, several posts were made about the 3-7% buff and no one at Bungie saw any of this and got shit straightened out right away? I don't know who is at fault and don't really care, but it's extremely disappointing that they aren't paying attention when it comes to a major weapons patch. I like Destiny, but as of right now not looking forward to Destiny 2. This game has(or had) so much potential and it appears to be going down the drain. Tldr: Bungie done -blam!-ed up and people are fed up. I know something about it will be in the weekly update, but I don't know if will help anything
