well, bungie did say before they dropped the patch with silver that it was their implementation of microtransactions. this is pretty much the same thing other games do. charge you for stuff you dont need to play the game, in bungies case .... emotes. think black op / cod gun shaders. same concept. however if you dont want to buy them they are purely asthetic, real no effect on gameplay, drops, etc. i dont think there is much of an argument here.

Guild wars 2 does it better than most since you can convert gold into diamonds (the purchasable currency) to buy those micro transaction items.
