I don't remember if it was Reach or Halo 3, I think it was Reach. I created my own version of the event from the old Gladiators TV show where 2 gladiators stood at the top of a mountain and shot tennis balls at contestants below as the contestants tried to move around obstacles grabbing weapons trying to hit a bullseye above the gladiators to knock them off their perch.
I had to mold it a little to fit the Forge capabilities, I used the "plant the bomb" game as my basis. Planting the bomb triggered a win for the contestants.
I had 2 guys on floating platforms with snipers and rocket launchers, these were the gladiators. The other 2 guys (contestants) ran the bomb around obstacles, one guy grabbed the bomb while the other laid down cover fire. The guy carrying the bomb had an overshield but moved much slower, he was simultaneously easier to hit but harder to kill.
There were obstacles to avoid and there were areas to take cover. Random explosive items were left in random areas just for fun. The area to place and detonate the bomb was on a well fortified lower floating platform. The detonation of the bomb would trigger a chain reaction of explosions that worked its way all the way up to the gladiators up top and killed them. If the contestant didn't jump to the lower platform just right to detonate the bomb then they could be thrown backwards into the field of play and have to redo that part of the arena. This is all set to a timer so the gladiators also have a chance to win.
It was tremendously fun and I spent a ridiculous amount of time putting it together.
Also created a POW type game, a dodgeball type game, a couple of others that I don't remember all these beers later.
EDIT: We also tried to create a soccer mode but we could never figure out the ball return mechanic after a goal was scored.

Bump because I make better PvP maps than Bungie.

Amazing

Lots of free time. Lots of beer drinking. No little kids running around. No significant other trying to watch her bullshit TV shows. Different era. Gladiators had a couple of gimmicks that were only good for a laugh once because you didn't know it was there but were easy to avoid the second time through. Man, was it ugly to look at.

I miss those days don't you?
-
Only after a long day of work where I just want to come home and have a beer and watch some TV in peace. Instead I get some lady yapping in my ear wanting to know how my day was and a little girl running around yelling "Daddy, play with me! Daddy, play with me!" Two dogs running around like idiots and my house is a wreck. I remember the single life very fondly.

I have a 6 month old angel along with the wife who just moved in six months ago after being with me for 5 years. Lol. Children are so much work , I'm just learning everyday. Keep up the great work!

Mine's almost 5. She likes Xbox and I let her turn my stuff into Rahool and shit. She's pretty awesome, totally obnoxious and a pain in the ass, but awesome. Her mom doesn't let me go drinking anymore and she doesn't let me pick up random bar skanks anymore. She's a total buzzkill.

Me - "Honey, didn't I meet you drunk at the bar? Seems like things worked out okay for you." Her - "Whatever, I wasn't drunk. Things have worked out pretty good for you, too." Me - ::SILENCE:: ::Crickets Chirp:: Her - "Don't act like things haven't worked out good for you, too!" Me - ::SILENCE:: ::Crickets Chirp:: Her - "You asshole." Her and I have a weird dynamic, though.

That is so much win it's disgusting. I'm sad I can't actually see that. Now if you could just add the battle spheres...

It was a nightmare to try to set up. Had to prevent the gladiators from instinctively jumping off the platform. Had to prevent the gladiator from accidentally falling off the platform. Had to make sure the gladiators spawned on their on respective platform and not the same platform. Had to make sure the explosives didn't go off prematurely during a firefight. It wasn't pretty to look at but the end product was pretty functional.
