Auto rifles still suck.
Auto rifles are still worse than hand cannons and pulse rifles in PvE. They now have superior bodyshot DPS but inferior headshot DPS, range, and accuracy.
Auto rifles are still terrible in PvP. They got +1 damage on each bullet (still 2nd lowest DPS) but now have less stability and WAY less range. Their time to kill has barely changed and is still very slow, but most auto rifles now suffer damage fall-off from just a few meters! They weren't really buffed at all!
I used Necrochasm and Silimar's Wrath for a few games and they're... Uh... Fun? But they kill very slowly. I was surprised so many people were using AR's. I switched back to Thorn and started wrecking. Also, the test FR is absolute garbage. Shoot with Thorn... Charge FR... And somehow land only 1 bolt. I did get all 10 FR kills in the first match, but that's only 'cause of mah skillz. I'm never testing FR's in crucible again DX
Enjoy Crucible for now, because it will soon be almost exactly like it was before when everyone realizes AR's are still crap, FR's are still crap, and PR's/Thorn dominate.
Shotguns seem to be a step down. Felwinter's Lie (II) is the only shotgun I would consider using now.
I can't say anything about TLW because I haven't tried it yet. Unless it was KILLED by the totally justified nerfs, it should be a more compelling option since Thorn's 2-shot kill is gone.
Hawkmoon's unique capabilities should also put it in a decent spot.
I haven't seen Hard Light's new capabilities. I'd assume it's a top tier gun at... something.
Necrochasm is OK for PvE now but it's not particularly amazing. The delay makes the explosions incredibly ineffective. It's terrible in PvP.
SUROS Regime may become an ultimate PvE weapon due to faster RoF+more damage+healing. It'll probably be slightly above average in PvP.
The new exotic AR's are... pretty terrible.
Necrochasm is the FASTEST killing AR, so how does it stack up? (pretty terribly!)
Necrochasm's fastest TTK: 0.8 seconds (12 headshots with aggressive ballistics. Good luck with that.)
Fatebringer's fastest TTK: 0.86 seconds (3 shots, only 1 headshot)
Word of Crota's fastest TTK: 0.73 seconds (3 shots, only 2 headshots)
Thorn's fastest engagement time: 0.73 seconds (3 body shots. Easy and reliable! Anyone can do it!)
The Messenger fastest TTK: 0.73 seconds (2 headbursts)
Hopscotch Pilgrim fastest TTK: 0.67 seconds (2 headbursts on minimum armor OR with reactive reload)
The Last Word TTK: 0.53 (3 shots, only 2 headshots. Neither hipfire or aggressive ballistics are needed)
The Last Word TTK: 0.26 (2 headshots while hipfiring. Good luck with that.)
I find it strange that even when presented with evidence otherwise, the poll still insists that AR's are now useful. Hm... Oh well, my advantage.

1 ReplyThey're okay, but could use range buff, just a little bit to be able to compete against pulse rifles.
-
I agree to an extent in PVP AR are good but not that good PR are the top weapon class now that and scout rifles

Hard Light/Monte Carlo are great. Nechro is surprisingly great. It has an even higher TTK. Fusions are great now (at least the new ones, that Omolon Fusion rifle is ridiculously good.)
-
Hard light is awesome in crucible now

Kinda got realize though, when someone's pelting you in the face with an AR it's harder to aim your weapon and hit the target. I've noticed a lot of people when they shoot back seem to always miss, unless they get behind cover and get the drop on me if I had the upper hand.

Hardlight all day. I even used the Aidelon Ally (spelling) and got kills. If I had the Necro, I'd use that.

Edited by StripClubDj: 9/12/2015 9:42:04 AMNecro and SW are high RoF low impact auto rifles. I've played with Suros Regime in PvE and PvP and it's great in my opinion. The range is higher then I would expect from an auto rifle, the damage is high, etc. In PvP I've played great games with the Suros, don't know what to say. The MIDA is also fantastic at longer range, but the Suros is easier in close range situations. In PvE I've played content I've done with handcannons for hundreds of times. I noticed with the current Suros (and 33 mag size), I can constantly kill more enemies before reloading then I usually did with handcannon's before 2.0. I'm sure it's at least just as effective as running those mission with a fatebriger, if not better. Also any major goes down with Suros before reloading, that wasn't always the case with handcannon's as far as I remember. Note: I've never really used auto rifles before 2.0. I started in January and they became worthless soon after.

Had good games with the Monte Carlo :) been epic

Been destroying with necro in pvp. But you have fun trying to crutch it out. Tell me how it goes.
-
They suck but you don't get killed as fast by thorn or TLW so they have that going for them.

I agree for PVP. For PVE I don't mind you can use anything now.
