Fusion Rifle Guide, Everything you need to know about fusion rifles
In this video I discuss Fusion rifles. I go over what perks you should use and how you can use a fusion effectively in the crucible in its current state.
In my experience I have found that the sights that offer increased target acquisition are the most effective. You don't need a high zoom sight and the light snappy ones often take away stability or range with hardly any extra benefits.
In column 1 I have found that there's 3 perks that are viable.
1. Hip fire: You can strafe and still move quickly while charging.
2. Hidden Hand: You get increased target acquisition. I have found this more effective than hip fire. The reason for this is because if you use a fusion rifle like I do in the video you won't need hip fire. I charge from the hip and I zoom in at the last second before I release the burst. This allows you to still move around effectively.
3. Feeding Frenzy: Being able to reload quickly is helpful
In the 2nd column theres 2 options.
Option 1: Accelerated Coils
Option 2: Braced Frame
Lets talk about these perks
If you're using a fast charge rate with lower impact fusion rifle then you want braced frame. If you're using a low charge rate with high impact fusion rifle then you want accelerated coils. The reason for this is because accelerated coils actually decreases the damage each individual projectile does. If you have a split shifter without coils it takes 5 projectiles to kill someone in PvP. If you have accelerated coils on it takes 6. The split shifter has 7 total projectiles.
The reason you want braced over any other perk in this spot is because the rest of the perks take away from the base range.
For the Last column you have a few options.
1. Army of one: (Preference perk)
2. Hot swap: As long as you aren't constantly running around with your fusion rifle like I am in this video, then this perk can be effective (Also a preference perk).
3. Icarus: This perk is a situational perk. It can be effective though. Planet destiny did a video on icarus and the two weapons that benefited the most from this perk were auto rifles and fusion rifles.
4. Battle Runner: This perk is my favorite perk in this column. The mobility that it gives you is great. Its great for game modes like rumble where you have to constantly run around the map to find enemies or to reposition before your next engagement.
The last perk I want to talk about in this column is rangefinder. Rangefinder is not nearly as effective as people make it out to be. The base range stat on your fusion rifle increases the rate at which your projectiles travel. Rangefinder only increases the distance the projectiles travel not how fast they travel. The change regarding fusion rifles in the last patch stated: The farther your projectiles travel the more they cone out. This just means if you want to be accurate with a fusion rifle and constantly get kills with it then you need to use it for close-medium distance engagements. It's best when used from 10-30 meters. You can use heavy ammo as a judgement for meters. Stand 20 meters from it and get a feel for the distance.
I hope you found these tips helpful! I didn't find all of this on my own. There's some people that did some great research and experiments.
