2 RepliesI've said this before but it's something that I think seriously should be considered. Datto is spot on about the instant kill meta and low time to kill being bad. In general it Destiny is becoming too twitchy and CoD like. Destiny already has enough instant kills in it (too many in my opinion). So how to stop this problem from reoccurring? Elemental Resistance As is in PvE like elements are more effective against one another than unlike elements which effectively increase time to kill. If this was transferred to the crucible time to kill would increase against subclasses that we not the same element (e.g. Void Walker Warlock vs Striker Titan, Bladedance vs Sunsinger). Players would have to pay attention to the weapons they use, the classes they choose and the opponents they are up against. If this system is implemented it also immediately prevents one weapon or a group of weapons from being OP against everyone, only against certain elemental types. See my post on this for a more full explanation (its the link).

That was the best description I have heard so far of the best way to balance the weapons other than, if they were to make it like this, lets say it took 3 hand cannon head shots to kill someone and 5 scout rifle headshots to kill someone, to change the time it took to shoot those 3 hand cannon shots and the 5 scout rifle shots to an equal amount of time that way crucible would truely be based on your perks and impact

Datto is a very informed and well spoken member of the community for sure. And I agree with him 100%. The thing people seem to forget with Destiny is, because it has MMO qualities, we have stats to deal with. We have to work numbers with not only character skill trees, but we have to work in gear with perks and weapon stats with their own perks. With that many numbers in play something is always bound to rear up and show it's ugly head. And it's going to keep happening as the game goes on. However, Bungie has said that they were too quiet about the issues with the weapon perks and that was one of the main things people complained about. It was like we as a community were standing on a mountain shouting to the Game Gods and they didn't respond to the call in a timely manner, which made it seem like they were kind of going 'meh'. At least now it's been addressed and it's being corrected and I think they've learned they can't be quiet about things; we need regular updates to major issues. At least now they have coding that's being implemented that can control individual stats of weapons like hand cannons. I love hand cannons, I hate that they're getting nerfed to a point. But I agree 100% on the range issue and not seeing that damage fall off. I'll be happy, but probably annoyed, with the auto rifles as well. Mostly because I know I'll be on the receiving end but now I know I can bring another weapon type in and not feel like I'm being pushed into one. That's the other problem, we're all being pushed into using hand cannons and not much else with a few exceptions. This needs to be a game where you can grab a pulse rifle other then Red Death and Hopscotch and just go to town. And not get glitch shot in under 2 seconds by a hand cannon across the map, I'm looking at you Last Word.

2 RepliesEdited by The 7th fall: 8/2/2015 4:33:25 AMI think we've all pretymuch seen and agree on that this meta is THE WORST. Hell I have PvP buddies that loved Destiny PvP(myself included), and basically lived and breathed it in like oxygen(though I wasn't that far in). Now, they hate the idea of going into Destiny PvP and would rather play CoD PvP... CoD PvP is more appealing, there is definitely something wrong if it goes that low.

Well said! I do wonder how different crucible would be without Exotics. There are definitely too many 'cheap' strategies that are exploited by players. Being bested is one thing, but being out-gimmicked is never fun. Bungie also appear far too reluctant to tune weapons separately for PvP and PvE play. The previous buffs and nerfs that they brought in have frequently been driven by issues only experienced in one game mode, resulting in changes detrimental to the other mode. The upcoming "refinements" appear to address some of the issues you mention for crucible, but I can see it making already over-tough PvE battles even worse, becoming an endurance test against a squad of bullet sponges defending the master sponge. There's nothing wrong with separate balance changes for PvP/PvE, in fact I think it's necessary to make the most of the game.

Yeah this meta wasn't hard to see coming. It was just so weird it took till Trails for people to really catch on to why it was so dominating.
