Poll directions: Choose what class you main as and your opinion regarding the rebalancing of blink. I want to know what each class thinks of blink. If you don't have a main, chose what class you think you play the most. Thank you!
Hey community, I'd like to get your opinion on if you think blink needs to be looked at regarding rebalancing. As it stands, if you are using a subclass with blink, there's no reason not to use it in PvP. The other jumps just aren't as useful and Blink has no disadvantages except learning it and having a two jump cool down.
It's a huge part of the meta right now and I'd really like to hear what your main class is and if you think it should or shouldn't be rebalanced to get it more in line with the other jumps.
TL;DR - Pick your main and your opinion on rebalancing blink. Thanks for your input!
EDIT: I hope Bungie sees all of your viewpoints. There's a lot of great arguments here! Thanks!
EDIT: Thanks for the majority of positive posts and rational debates of the topic!

Ahhhh blink..it helps me jumps off cliffs and map edges so well.
-
Warlock main, and i just don't care about blink, i run glide instead
-
I have a feeling the upcoming weapon balancing will likely reduce the effectiveness of the blink shotgun
-
I really like lift. It makes it much easier to snipe Titans out of the air
-
Blink needs a longer cool down, I hate hunters and warlocks who cover big distances quickly just to shotgun you.

Edited by Dismantled: 7/30/2015 10:23:10 PMI main a hunter but i think people that use bladedancer on pvp are garbage players to begin with

Want to save time? Instead of reading the comments below, I'll save you time. The blink crutch guy: "blink isn't broken, all you have to do is jump towards the blinker to avoid getting felwinter'd." More blink crutch guys: "Something redundant about Titans something something shoulder charge" omfg my crutch! :'(

It takes "skill" to blink eh? It also takes "skill" to use TLW, but I see it was nerfed. Also, "skill" would be at best subjective. "Skill" should never be used in an argument dealing with balance as it is irrelevant to balance. If it helps, imagine it this way, balance would be achieved when two opponents face each other having no "skill" and the end result is a draw. "Skill" is just something used to muddy the waters and stroke epeens in a balance discussion. Take "skill" out of it already.

I play every class. Blink is fine as is.
-
Blink is over used and it's the main reason people play crucible on hunters and warlocks. Even if titan had a form of blink, that wouldn't fix the abuse of what is suppose to be a jump boost but people use it as a way to avoid supers, rockets, melee and anything that can inflict harm. The crucible for destiny just turned into a blink shit castle and it needs to be tuned.
-
Blink is super annoying. Especially in combination with arc blade.
-
2 RepliesThey main problem with Blink is that after you just teleported 10 ft your guns are instantly ready and can shotgun anyone before they realize where you ended up. Blink is too offensive and grants the user a severe dvantage is CQC.
-
The only thing broken about it is that you can negate rockets. Otherwise it's viable. Maybe the blinking out of stickies, but that seems cannonical to me. Titans just need to realize theyre the fastest class anyeay and stop crying about it.
-
5 RepliesI think they are fine. They already have big trade offs. For example: -can't blink more than twice in a row -can't tell exactly where you'll end up -can't blink in a room with low ceilings (you'll just blink in place and probably die) -can't blink through a door -while you might be able to jump high, you can't control your jump to go EXACTLY where you want to go -if you are standing still, you won't be able to jump forward when you blink I fight blink with shotguns and TLW. Most times they are rushing with a shotgun so they are ripe pickings for both unless I lock up like a doofus. When I use red death I keep things at a distance so I see it coming a mile away. If they nerf it, it won't fix anything. It just won't make blink a viable option. I like all the other jumps. The warlock jump with increased momentum is great for getting above people and dropping on their heads or being somewhere they don't expect. Titans have insane jumps. Not just lift either. The better control jump is like having super speed if you use it a certain way. And the Hunter triple jump... *shakes head* People have such a narrow view...
-
Haha of course 23% are hunters saying it doesn't need a rebalance. Lol
-
Lol at all the hunters saying that it doesn't need balanced
-
25 RepliesBlink is completely fine, sure its the best jump, but there has to be one. The problem is blink with quickdraw. Blink with a warlock takes a lot of skill, not with a hunter. I think that the quickdraw perk needs to be looked at in accordance to blink, not blink in general.
-
I think either blink should get a nerf of sorts (maybe decrease the distance/height you are able to blink to) or give the Titan Shoulder Charge a slight over-shield during use. Blink and Shoulder Charge are the 2 special movement system for all the classes; however, Blink is much more easily able to avoid gunfire, a Titan trying to shoulder charge an enemy is a lot more likely to die than a Hunter teleporting near them, I've are completely open and can't sprint fast enough to give it that edge it needs... I can't tell you how many times my S-Charge is shut down by shotguns... On occasion I'll hit an enemy and the game won't register it, although I'm not really worried about that as much.

1 ReplyHere's the thing. Actual use of blink properly isn't easy. It involves timing, learning arcs and planning in a split second. You're all going to respond and say "it's bullshit anyone can do that" I don't think so. Ask a pvp blinker to do the VOG jumping puzzle with blink or to get to well known raised cheese spots with blink and the vast majority will look at you like you're mad (metaphorically unless you know them IRL). I've used blink from the instant it was a valuable to me about 10 months ago. Maybe earlier I don't quite know when I got it first. But it was early. And since then I've learned to use it better than I can double jump or glide. Blink is actually one of the most balanced jumps there is for two reasons The first is less control. When blinking, you can't turn, you can't stop the blink, you can't control the distance you blink. You have to time it right and decide exactly when to use it or you're dead. The second is its identifiable. When you blink you always make a loud and trackable sound. If you blink they know where you are by sound and if they see where you were, a small tail indicates where you went. These two things both mean that blink, while fast and distance covering, has its risks. The amount of times I tried to get onto that small island outside of B on shores of time and either fell off because I overshot (not a problem now though) or got shot to death because they heard me (still a real problem) made me stop trying to go there for a while. It's not invincible. Far from it. And proper use of it is harder to achieve than the more common spamming of it you see.

3 RepliesU cant go 10 seconds in an iron banner game without hearing someone blink lol its a bit out of hand
-
2 Replies22% of hunters are smart and skilled and 22% can't get a kill without it...
-
I like the perk in theory- but the fact that players can blink to completely avoid damage seems wrong to me. Blinking through rockets with grenades and horseshoes seems too good. I've also had it happen where a threw a nova bomb at a hunter who used blink- my bomb struck something in the air where he used to be- but apparently that something wasn't him because he blinked out of the other side of my nova bomb and proceeded to kill me with a RL. tl;dr - jumping perks can trump rockets and supers

5 RepliesHeres what i think; Blink is very OP. It allows you to dodge rockets, dodge shoulder charges, and allows you to evade safely. Another problem is that one of the classes doesn't even have blink, playing a titan already puts you at a disadvantage. Also, blink even has invincibility frames. Why should it have invincibility. Just by blinking you can tank anything because you will be immune to damage for the first frames. Then you have blink shotgun. This is a problem with hunters more than warlocks since they have the perk "quickdraw". Quickdraw allows them to immediately shoot you after blinking. Heres how i would fix blink Take the invincibility frames off of blink Make the cooldown start after the 1st jump Make it so you cant shoot until you land on the ground after blinking.
-
2 RepliesI don't really have a problem with Blink, it's just that Blink shouldn't stop any DOT or make you invincible as you go into blink. I've shot a rocket at someone who used blink and there is definitely a period of invincibility that needs to be addressed. It shouldn't be like a super.
-
1 ReplyI extensively use all classes, and while I admit it takes skill to use blink is problematic. It makes broken shotguns even more broken, and is the only counter against rockets. And I think everyone can agree that it's quite annoying to battle against. Make the trail of where the blinker went more visible. Remove invincibility frames (I don't know if they're the result of me meleeing/arc blading an enemy for them to blink away after contact, but ugh.) Slightly increase cool down time between immediate blinks, to help curb the mindless spammers. For a second after blink, the radar is disabled and mid air accuracy is very slightly lowered. Increase the pull out time of shotguns after a blink. Some ideas, maybe all of them at once would be overkill. I just think it's a problem that will hurt variation, as none of the new subclasses have blink.

9 RepliesEdited by Prototypes End: 7/30/2015 4:18:16 PMIt's been in the game since the start. No one has complained about it till recently. Reason people are complaining is because we got a ton of crybabies playing destiny that want everything handed to them. Its -blam!-ing ridiculous.
