I can still one shot cross map people in trials with pratorian foil, it is capable of dealing over 70 damager per pellet with both perks proc, if just reactive reload procs it deals 67 dmg per pellet with a full mag, that means if all pellets hit with that much power, it is over 450 damage where most guardians have around 200 health. Without the perks active it never deals under 50 dmg per pellets so yeah, they do need a slight nerf still (Coming from a hardcore fusion rifle user, it's my top used weapon lol)

I never liked my foil. It just never seemed to hit hard enough.

I don't think it needs any sort of nerf. Bungie loves their usage statistics and currently Fusion Rifles are sitting below a majority of weapons. I think you're having success with it but that's mostly to do with you being a good player. I checked your profile and sure enough, the stats and medals sure as hell don't lie. I use Fusion Rifles too and I took my Exile's Curse into Rumble and won 5 matches in a row this morning, but that doesn't mean that it needs a nerf. Fusion Rifles already require a ton more predictive play than any other weapon because of the charge time, and when you add to this the inconsistency as a result of the accuracy/bloom nerf of 1.1.1, you end up with a weapon that simply can't compete with snipers from afar, shotguns up close, and primary weapons in the middle. I am almost sure that you managed to kill those players like that because you took them by surprise or outplayed them using positioning/timing and because you're simply a better player. I try to make a point of using underpowered/less used weapons and succeeding with them to show that good performance is not representative of whether the weapon needs a nerf or not. Usage statistics, logical analysis of viability, and damage statistics are what determine this. I can almost guarantee that if those players were equally skilled and were on equal footing in the engagement (equally good positioning and aware that you are coming for them) they would have easily strafed out of your shots. Also keep in mind that the faster-charging Fusion Rifles can't do this because they have lower impact and range, and so they get the shortest end of the stick. Praetorian Foil is very unique due to how it has Glass Half Full and Reactive Reload. No other Fusion Rifle has this. I wouldn't say it's broken because you made good use of the weapon and were able to use it well. Fusion Rifles needed a slight buff and they got the opposite according to the 2.0.0 preview.

Yup, I think they are highly underrated in PvP but in PvE they really need some work. I can think of no good reason to use one over a shotgun or sniper. Even a sidearm seems like a better choice!

Edited by The 7th fall: 7/17/2015 1:14:12 PMLol, well that solves PvP, but PvE they're weak as hell. Most use a shotgun or sniper, hell even a sidearm over a fusion rifle lol. That is where Bungie wen't wrong -and somewhat PvP-, there needs to be a fusion rifle damage buff MINIMUM for PvE.

And somehow their answer is nerfing PVE shotguns to be comparable to the useless fusions in PVE :) makes sense....
-
That's their answer to everything - all guns should suck equally. That way enemies don't need good AI, they just stand there and laugh at the little pot shots and blast you away with their infinite ammo.

"Voilà! We've finally created truly difficult game play guys!"
