To celebrate the glorious occasion of Bungie Day, I thought why not talk about one of their most focused games at the moment and what all their consumers minds of their most focused game is on. All if not most of Bungie's fans are engaged at the moment in their wonderful game, Destiny. And a high percentile of those people who play Destiny are highly involved in the Crucible. Most of those who are involved in the Crucible, understand the broken state it is currently in. And well to be frank what better way to celebrate Bungie Day than to talk about ways to enhance their most focused game and make their fans happier. So here are some issues I think that are wrong and can be fixed (somehow) in PvP.
Problems:
It's sad to even have to mention or talk about how badly overpowered Thorn and The Last Word really are because mostly everyone who has one or has been killed by one knows exactly how it feels. On the other note, with things like the Felwinter's Lie being a sniper..I mean.. being a re-forgeable shotgun that pretty much anyone can abuse with the right amount of motes and then make it unfairly overpowered shouldn't be a thing either. To a greater extent something like the Final Round perk on snipers is something that shouldn't be existent. I understand that the new snipers don't have the ability to roll Final Round, but what about the thousands, even millions of other players who still have and use the Final Round perk? And last but not least, one of the smaller issues being blinking around and shotgun-ing. I understand some people deem this a type of "gameplay" or "style" for all intended purposes, but it's incredibly annoying and easy to pull off. A type of low risk, high reward type of gameplay.
Hand Cannon Meta:
Okay, time to receive all the hate mail, but Thorn is without a doubt the biggest issue with the Crucible at the moment and something needs to be acknowledged about that. Being able to kill in two headshots is insanely abused and being able to kill someone in a time of around .3.5 to .4 seconds just because of the burn time alone on Thorn just shouldn't be a thing. One should never be able to tag someone two times with anyone weapon, hide, and then slowly watch them burn away and die. The Last Word isn't as big as in issue as Thorn, but it's still without a doubt an issue because of the gun being glitched and able to land 111 headshots at times is highly unfair. Landing a 111 headshot and then landing a body shot will instantly kill the person you're going up against 100% of the time. The main issue with Thorn and The Last Word lies within the time it takes to annihilate any enemy in PvP, which at the moment is way to quick.
Hunter Issue:
I know I'm not going to make a lot of friends saying this, but Blade Dancing Hunters are without a doubt the most overpowered and well versed class in the whole game. Giving a grenade that tags people, reaches super far, connects between enemies, and leaves them practically with really low health is an issue. Giving the Hunter class a chess piece (Lucky Raspberry) that gives them a new grenade every time on respawn is a little too much almost all the time. The Blade Dance Super is without a doubt one of the most overused one in the game and one that can be easily manipulated. With Warlocks you only get one chance (Nova Bomb), with Titans it's the same (Fist of Havoc) and then comes the Hunter's Super where you can have multiple times and chances to kill multiple enemies with the Golden Gun or with Blade Dance. Playing for a tryout team a little while ago, I and one of the other people on the other team were the ONLY Warlocks. Can you guess what the other ten players were? You guessed it, they were all Hunters.
Felwinter's/Blink & Shotgun:
Again, this is something that has easily become way too abused and seen now more than ever in the Crucible. The main problem with the whole Blink and Shotgun issue is simple. It's hard to come up with a counter and almost every time nearly impossible to win against 90% of the battles you fight. Narrowing it down to Felwinter's and other reforgeable shotguns like Matador 64 and Party Crasher, the problem with these is you can make those guns into the best possible versions of themselves. Being able to roll something like Shot Package, and or Range Finder is quite absurd especially when all the person with said shotgun does is Blink around or above you and use said weapon with said perks.
What the problem comes down isn't that people use these weapons, it's that A) Bungie isn't really taking notice or doesn't seem to be doing anything about said weapons and problems and B) With the meta that is out right now, this makes everyone play under those certain categories. Next time you're watching someone really good at Destiny or a streamer, look at their loud out. 90% of the time it will include The Last Word or Thorn with a shotgun that has been re-rolled into the absolute best and a rocket launcher that has high blast radius and high velocity and coincidentally they will be Hunters. The problem with going against said weapons are that are currently broken and it doesn't make it fun and is impossible almost every time to fight them with another weapon unless you catch them absolutely blind sided. And that's the whole issue with the Crucible now. Why should I or anyone use anything else other than Thorn or The Last Word? Why should everyone not use Hunters? Why should we all not use Blink and shotguns? The reward for being different isn't present.
Let's Talk About the Fixes:
Focusing on weapons is the first thing that needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. Nerfing the range on Thorn and The Last Word will make all the difference. Patching it to where two head shots will not kill you, but leave you in critical condition seems like a fix as well. The main perk of Thorn is currently the burn damage. Why not make the ticks occur less often? I'm sure it doesn't have to be said, but I feel as if reducing the burn damage on Thorn and getting rid off all together the perk of nailing a 111 on The Last Word would also fix a majority of the bigger problem.
With regards to the Hunter issue not a whole lot can be done about that because well you can't get rid of a whole class in Destiny. In terms of shotguns though, I heavily believe getting rid of all together Shot Package or Range Finder would also reduce a much bigger issue at hand. Being able to roll such said perks allows and in a big way praises those who do use Blink and shotgun allowing them to take a much lesser risk simply because of how long the range of the pellet spread goes.
In conclusion, there are a lot of things that needs to be fixed and a lot of issues that needs to be solved in order for the Crucible to take that kind of fondness it had back in the Beta days. Do you know why it was so special back then? Because you saw people using a variety of weapons and not a whole lot of them were greater than the others. There were no hand cannons that could outplay any other type of weapon you had and that made it appealing. The simple problem of the Crucible is the lack of variety in order to win. Equipping a Thorn or The Last Word makes others equip the same loud out and make everyone quick killing machines. It's time to tone it down a little and start deploying some nerfs.

Edited by Jamjars xo: 7/7/2015 10:36:29 PMThorns range should be nerfed at least, the last word glitch needs to be fixed, shotguns are okay and its range is fine, the only thing that makes shotguns OP is shot package, try using a shotgun without SP, for example found verdict, highest range, high impact, it wont even come close to a shotgun with shot package, the hunters arent a problen, just watch AEGabriel in twitch, his team has won every destiny tournament and he is a titan, he outguns every blinking bladedancer + bladedancer is the worst super, its super weak, i myself think that warlocks are more powerful than hunters specially now with the ram, id rather face hunters than sunsingers with firebolts, touch of flame and viking funeral, blinking wouldnt be much of a problem if bladedancers wouldnt have Quickdraw. - A Gunslinger
