Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 8:35:58 PMFair enough. MMO's may not be your cup of tea then. They all tend to do that. DC Universe Online is a prime candidate along with WoW and DoTA2. This game more and more is revealing itself to be a FPS MMO. Not a FPS Shooter like COD or Battlefield. But even those game has garbage story mission that are mediocre. It's sort of the Norm for FPS Shooters to have no stories anymore tbh. You maybe interested in Uncharted 4 that tends to have more story based focus with a mediocre repetitive Multi-player.

Im fine with calling Destiny an MMO and treating it as such when Bungie adds social features such as LFG and clans. Until then its not an MMO or a game as a service if you don't like th MMO title.
-
We have clans already. https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan
-
Thats on the Bungie site, its not in the game. You can't talk to your clan. You can't invite your clan members to activities. You can't see which members are online. There are no clan features in the actual game.
-
Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 10:51:02 PMThat's why you put them on your friends list on PSN or Xbox Live. I can invite my friends because they are on my friends list ;) And I can see them online when my console is on and I can see them online on Bungie.net too. XD Plus there is the app that you're going to say nobody uses but my clan uses regularly and that's how we coordinate. We also use PSN group messages. Problem solved thinking outside the box I guess. ;)
-
Yeah that was my point, no clan features outside what your console supports or outside the game. In MMOs clans are a way to find new friends to play with not necessarily to play with your current friends. (because you already have contact with them outside the game)
-
Oh. Ok. That really doesn't cause a problem for me on Destiny.
-
It didn't use to for me either until HoW and my friends left to play other games. :)
-
Destiny isnt mmo sorry

Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 9:26:39 PMYeah well Bungie is treating it's story and DLC like this game is one more then you think. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destiny_(video_game)
Destiny 's style has been described as a first-person shooter that incorporates role-playing and massively multiplayer online game (MMO) elements, but Bungie has avoided defining Destiny as a traditional MMO game.[5] Instead, the game has been referred to as a "shared-world shooter,"[6] as it lacks many of the characteristics of a traditional MMO game. For instance, rather than players being able to see and interact with all other players in the game or on a particular server—as is the case in many conventional MMO games—Destiny includes on-the-fly matchmaking that allows players to see and interact only with other players with whom they are "matched" by the game.[5] Time-limited events and modes are also occasionally added or featured in-game.[7][8]
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/bungie-activision-contract-calls-for-destiny-in-2013/1100-6378010/
The paper reports that the original agreement had Bungie on the hook to deliver four "massively multiplayer-style…sci-fantasy, action shooter games" under the code name "Destiny." The quartet would kick off in the fall of 2013 with a game for the Xbox 360 and its successor, with subsequent installments to launch every second year thereafter for Sony's consoles and PCs as well. For the years in between those main installments in the series, Bungie would produce downloadable expansion packs under the code name "Comet." The first such add-on was slated to hit in 2014.
So it doesn't contain parts of MMO? Thus the way they are marketing this game with it's DLC would confuse us?

Destiny is not an mmo. That's like calling dark souls an mmo

Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 9:35:05 PMhttp://documents.latimes.com/bungie-activision-contract/ Implies it is. Also this: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/is-destiny-an-mmo-bungie-weighs-in/1100-6416234/

They can imply whatever they want. They say destiny is full of "rich, cinematic story telling" right on the box. Doesn't make it true
-
Nailed it here.

Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 9:39:34 PMSo if it doesn't have a story and is not an MMO but has multi-player mechanics and game-play. Are you implying you have answer to what the game is? (ie I probably know you're going to say, "iIt's not a game at all, it's all rubbish).

An fps with mandatory online multiplayer

Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 9:51:23 PMLike? -
Ya, but with a loot system and less of a story.
-
Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 10:05:50 PMYour telling me Planet Side 2 and COD have more story? To me they are just as rubbish. COD. Fight bad guys. Bad guys kills people. Terrorist kills all your friends accept a small few you're tortured and you torture them back and then you kill bad guy. Yay. Then end or to-be continued for next year. LOL. That's what they do each year. Destiny plays out just like this.
-
Low quality? Sure, but better than destiny isn't saying much

Edited by ZHX1138: 6/26/2015 10:18:43 PMI'm enjoying the game overall. I just want more driven story tbh. That's not asking much. Everything else is fine imo. But, we live in a time of such over commercialize FPS games with fans that want quick thrills and that's why we end up with nearly no story. It's like a FPS trademark now. Did you know people on these forums wanted less story and in fact wanted to be able to turn off cut scenes all together? Bungie read that as a, "Ok then we won't make much story content and focus only on end game content." You're better off getting a 3rd person story game like Uncharted 4 or the previous ones if you want good rich story telling and use Destiny for all the thrills.
