First off, i am not against atheism. That's not what this is about. But i'm not exactly for religion.
I recently read that the millennial generation is far more in support of atheism than past generations. Why do you think that is?
I mean look at what we are exposed to now-a-days when religion gets involved...
-people picketing funeral of fallen heroes because of who they loved in their life that was cut short (being gay)
-people protesting on a street corner yelling to passersby with a megaphone that "god hates you! You are all sinners and shall be damned to hell!"
-people banging on our door at 8:00am to force upon us their beliefs relentlessly and if you so much as show them kindness and let them say what they have to say then they repeatedly come back to your house again and again and again to force it upon you more
-we see whole disputes and even wars come from religion
Just about everything we see about religion today is negative. So it would only make sense that people having to grow up hearing and seeing all of this would despise religion and see it more as a brainwashing or a cult trying to force everyone to join it.
What do the rest of you think? This is simply me ranting, and i'm interested in seeing what others think on the state of religion today. So speak your mind, but please be courteous of other opinions.
Edit:
It seems that the biggest contributor to this decrease of religion is the Internet. It's almost unanimous that everyone agrees we simply have more access to information than ever before. It makes sense that the generations who had no access to question things would simply assume their religion has the answers, because that's how they were raised.

For the same reason that "feminism" is on the rise. I'll let you do what you want with that ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
