Is it ok for other ethnicities to have pride in their race, but not Caucasians?
Does having pride in your race have to translate to "i support all that my race has done to other races, and i think my race is the best of all!"???
Or can we simply be proud to be who we are without it meaning we despise all other races?
-
Yes, because white people have nothing to be proud of.
-
If there can be a song called "say it loud I'm black and I'm proud" We can have white pride twirls all this white hatters (cough cough north Karea caught caugh)
-
I didnt mean to click yes (and im white) my fat fingers fml...
-
I find "pride" movements distasteful. Pride is not good, self confidence is.
-
Race is one of the most pointless things for anyone to care about
-
Not really. I mean, white people have done some pretty great things, but some pretty bad things as well. Still though, it isn't bad to have some white pride. Just as long as it isn't white power.
-
11 RepliesKinda. Being white isn't a heritage. Being Irish, German, etc. is. The only reason that doesn't apply to black folks is cuz they have no way to know what their heritage is seeing as slavery destroyed it.

2 RepliesAre you proud that you burn in the sun?

"Pride" movements are generally a group's reaction to being oppressed due to things like their race or sexual orientation or religion. Black Pride, for example, challenges the idea that there's something inherently wrong with being black-- an idea that has played a part in shaping our culture and social institutions. If you think Whites in America are seen as lesser people for being White and face institutionalized oppression because of it, then perhaps it would be helpful to unite and inspire the White community with White Pride. Either way, this topic and comments are yet another example of a perverted "egalitarianism" rearing its head. An issue of race or gender or whatever is stripped of all of its social, cultural, and historical context and reality is replaced with a more comfortable alternative, where society has magically moved beyond the very concept of discrimination. Most importantly, Whites, who have so graciously received their unjust punishment for the sins of their great-great-great-great grandfathers, are finally allowed to be free: to have pride, to say the N-word, to partake in the endless wealth of Affirmative Action.

Pride is a bad thing and leads to strife.

1 ReplyEdited by Cultmeister: 5/14/2015 11:11:21 PMWell I don't believe in black pride or woman pride or LGBT pride or any of that crap; you shouldn't need to be specifically proud for being born a certain way, but if you're gonna have one then have them all. Latino pride, Asian pride, caucasian pride, heterosexual pride, disabled pride, able-body pride, Native American pride... You should be 'proud' of things you've actually achieved and simply accepting of the things you are. Being proud of something you didn't do anything to achieve seems a tiny bit arrogant to me.
-
Maybe? National pride isn't racist But just for your skin color? Seems odd
-
1 ReplyFun fact: on instagram if you do #blackpower its ok but if you do #whitepower nothing shows up fir the hashtag.. Really whites are being discriminated against more. Blacks just ACT like victims more

7 RepliesEdited by CrazyLincoln: 4/28/2015 7:43:26 AMThere is nothing prideful about a "race." Race isn't even a thing. The entire concept is stupid. I think the term "racism" is moronic. However, if you're stupid enough to believe that the physical traits of a person have anything to do with the internal traits then you're I suppose "racist." Having pride in white skin makes you a moron. This applies to any other group of people. "Black power" is also stupid as shit. Let me add that having pride in the achievement of your "race" makes literally no sense. You're taking create for work that other people did just because you're genetically related. You can say "whites did this" all you want. At the end of the day YOU haven't done a goddamn thing.

6 RepliesWait so if black people are proud to be black and that is not racist, then why is it racist to be white and proud... Blimin society these days. We r all human therefore all equal no matter wat colour we are.
-
Eh it's silly to be proud or ashamed of something your ancestors did before you were even born
-
I'm proud to be Aussie or as some people call me captaincookaneese
-
3 RepliesI don't see how it could be racist. After all: White isn't a race; we've already won.
-
2 RepliesHow can you be "proud" of being white? (I'm white)
-
I have Beckinsale pride
-
1 ReplyBeing racist means you hate someone because of their race or you believe your race is superior (or, if you prefer, a different race is inferior to your own). Having pride in your race is not racism.
-
Black people always win races so why can't we? Lol jk skin colour shouldn't be anything to be proud of since that isn't a choice. Religion and beliefs can be celebrated (not too far though like KKK shiz)
-
Well, by the definition of racism, no.

Edited by Radical Edward: 4/28/2015 2:23:31 PMPeople have the right to be proud of whatever makes them feel proud. Even something that they didn't do, and had no say in, such as the color of their skin. Which (to me) would also be a pointless thing to feel shame over, or allow other people to try to make you feel shame for. Though if you ask me, there are many more things that are better choices and sources of personal pride. So, to answer the OP. No, it's not necessarily racist. It IS however, racial. Unfortunately, some people take pride as an excuse to consider themselves superior to "those who do not share what I am proud of". That's when race pride goes from being racial and becomes racist.

4 RepliesNo, but I'm not particularly proud to be a white North American. You know, all the atrocities and such.
