halo mode?
Not quite.
Destiny offers thousands of unique weapons and armors. It is a macro sample of the weapon diversity featured in the modern FPS. Armor and weapon perks accentuate the differences. Imagine a mode without tracking rockets, snipers cloaking, weapons leaving lingering damage over time, active radar while aiming down sights, 3-tube rockets, or gaining supers and grenades faster for landing shots. Such a mode would still feature the vast impact, rate of fire, and range differences between weapons. It would stll features radar, supers, and class differences. It wouldn't be "halo mode." Nor "cod mode." It'd simply be a gametype that focused more on gunskill and positioning. By reducing the factors that affect the outcome of any engagement, while preserving variance, we could have a competitive pvp mode.
On Iron Banner:
Have you ever played a level 30 strike with a level 29 and a 30? Or completed a Kill Target public event? It's stunning how much damage a level 30 does more than a level 29. Iron Banner is a mode for the players who've invested time getting and maxing raid gear and exotics. Not a level 32? You must enjoy punishment for punishment sake.
On Inferno:
Destiny's mp map setup and the prevalence of so many low time-to-kill weapons have turned this radar-free mode into a shogun domination paradise. The only alternative is for a team to secure a highly defensive position and play the camping game. Inferno is not Destiny's hardcore mode.
Minimizing advantages unique to entirely random drops is something I'm sure most people can get behind. Anyone that has played a COD since Modern Warfare 1 gets weapon variety and some way to guage the outcome of an engagement before commiting.
You do realize that you bought a shooter that was part of a role-playing game?
-....and that you are now asking it to be scrubbed of all those same role-playing elements?
You asking the game to stop being what it is....
