So today, I am doing Crota (Normal) for my second time (ever) and I am totally holding my own with my 31 Warlock, when near the end I get killed trying to run back to the 'central room' after briefly going to the 'ogre room'.. some guy starts getting pissed off and running his mouth off:
Just so you know... there's no need to go to Ogre room on Normal mode. There is no gatekeeper below the Crystal room so everyone can safely drop down there without having to run through the field of play. If the douchebag had been any kind of a decent leader he would have evaluated everyone's experience level and either A) explained things much better or B) gone with the easier plan. Too bad you are on PS4... I'm always raiding and love to find other adults to raid with

  • Thanks a lot for taking the time to post. I appreciate the advice and actually matches up with a "walkthrough video" strategy I watched earlier. If ever you come over to the PS4 "Dark Side" (jk) it would be great to play with you. Otherwise, good luck finding some more decent adult players :) Incidentally, even my older sister cant quite understand why I got a PS4 because its "not an adult thing to do" in her generation, haha, its amazing how things have changed so fast. Im sure there will be lots more adult gamers in another 5 years.

  • Xbone is full of small children and elitest butt-holes. It took me quite a while to find some cool adults to play with.

  • Well a lot of these guys like the op don't admit they have no idea what they are doing and people get pissed because by now most should have no issues with running normal crota.
Well a lot of these guys like the op don't admit they have no idea what they are doing
That's a fair point... but a good leader should be able to spot this ... and long before Crota. Just last week I was helping a group of randoms through the Crota raid and 2 wipes at the bridge and I was able to tell where the problem was and that he hadn't done the raid before. I also see this a lot where people have only cheesed it before but never done it legit, they don't like to admit they don't know how the bridge works playing it legit. You can tell this when you wipe more than once due to totem annihilation. One more reason to NOT cheese the bridge. Want to know your teammates skill level? Play the bridge legit... you will be amazed at how many can't hold a totem plate ... even on normal. Again... if one is going to be a raid leader, they need to learn to step up and identify the problems... not just act like a douchebag throwing a temper tantrum.

  • The bigger issue is sites like lfg. When u team up with randoms no one tends to take the lead and they just get pissed. Another reason why matchmaking with raids is a bad idea.

  • I have experienced this. There were only two people that could run the relic and neither was very good at it, so when we kept wiping they started to get frustrated and redirecting that (a little) at the group. That was ok because thats just understandable human behaviour, everyone was supportive of them. Nonetheless, eventually the team bailed.

  • Yeah that's why I advise to join a clan or a group. Because then you will start to play with the same people and there's more room for learning and understanding. Most people on lfg are just looking to get it done and normally don't even read the post. I can't tell you how many times I have posted in the full raid section and just get spammed with check point people.

  •
The bigger issue is sites like lfg. When u team up with randoms no one tends to take the lead and they just get pissed.
I play off LFG all the time and don't have this issue... mostly because I'm the one putting the team together and I take lead. Sometimes when I'm bored I will surf LFG and join others needing Raid help. If they clearly have a leader, I let them know I can do any role and will just follow their direction. If there is no leader and no one has a plan... I step up. The only issue I have with LFG is finding groups who will play it legit. I like the Raids and I like the fights.... I don't want to push the easy button and bypass the battle. I just ask up front to clarify what, if any, cheese the team plans on using.

  • I actually did my first strike last week with randoms that all liked to engage enemies (which I do too) rather than speeding past them... and that was the most fun strike I have done.

  •
Yeah in my raid grp the leader likes to solo the lamps and it bums me out because I main warlock and I love nova bombing everything.
Yeah now see I don't know how you can play with someone like that. I can't stand that crap.... same as when you are doing VoG and some douche tells everyone to leave and he will solo the maze and then everyone can jump back in. BULLSHIT! The raid is meant to be played... I like playing all parts of it. I won't leave during the maze part in VoG and I certainly wouldn't agree to not running the abyss in Crota so one guy could solo it..... Honestly I think your raid leader sounds like just the kind of butthead the OP is talking about.

  • I got robbed of an awesome Raid team two days ago. There were three excellent players that all knew each other and including myself, three randoms. I did the whole Lamps section with them and it was done with a "no man left behind" attitude and when you were the last to get to the lamp everyone was providing cover fire for you; excellent explanations of the strategy, some fun jokes... tons of fun playing with those guys and I learned a lot. Unfortunately halfway through the raid all the power in my neighbourhood went out for 10 hours! haha, ahh well. Still, that was a n awesome bunch to play with.

  • People who whine about people being noobs and won't let anyone have a chance at the raid are no life's, simple as that, I helped my fiends through their first crotas end raid yesterday, we did fine I just had to take the time to explain it, people who can't get of their high horses because they think they're better than everyone else at a video game are like I said, no life's

  • Well said. I have been a leader in non-gaming aspects of life (i.e. hockey team captain; top of the class guy...) and its really quite rewarding to help people out instead of being conceited. Similarly, I got a scholarship last year to do a research project with my Economics Department Chair and it kind of made the full picture of working with people clear for me. Why? Because I am a nobody compared to her, I could never ever achieve what she has achieved and it took every fibre of my being to keep up with her guidance in doing something that is literally childsplay from her perspective. She is a typical overachiever and I cant say she never got frustrated with my inability to meet her standards, but overall she was so kind to me and took time out of a ridiculous 70+ hour of work per week schedule to help me reach my potential. Great lady. I think I actually respect her concern for her students even more than my respect for he skills/achievements.

Ya, unfortunately the person I helped turned into an elitist, he thought he could do everything and even went as far as to boot me from his game thinking he had found a better person to do it with, long story short he came to me to try and beg for my help again, he was promptly deleted and I left him with a nice Message wishing him good luck in finding someone to help him with raids
there may have been a little(or a lot) of sarcasm there though
• Well that's why I just 2 man the normal raid with my buddy so we don't have to deal with the scum. Once my hunter get to 32 I can take a break to no life something else. Also having a clan helps with hard mode can't deal with the shitties on lfg anymore.
