It's broken. There's not much else to say about it. I realize that without it, this game would be exclusive to hard core gamers only, but let's be real here. Casual or Hardcore, if you're shooting an enemy in the head and another enemy dashes across your line of sight, in what world would you ever violently start tracking the other target? The mechanics have been broken since Halo Reach (which clearly they have re-used the same flawed logic here), but it seems MUCH more intense in this game.
I won't say that it hasn't ever helped me because I'm sure it has; however, the point is we should never have to fight against it. If a player's sticks are moving left, the game is fighting back to the right until it decides "ok, I'm done" at which point his aim shifts left and overshoots the target. This video isn't the greatest example, but it's pretty clear what's happening.
Please someone just validate that I'm not the only one that despises this mechanic?

5 RepliesThats how aim-assist works. And it would be pretty hard to "fix" that problem. And even then the fix would create a new problem of the assist staying on an enemy in the background rather than following the guy straifing in front of you. The game just snaps to the enemy that is closer to your sight and closer to you. Which, it probably thinks, "This guy is closer to you, he is a bigger threat." Its such a minor problem though, honestly, I dont pay it much mind.
