Advanced warfare is your standard casual shooter, bit of lag issues in the game, etc.
Evolve is a skill based game like lol or Dota, but simplified with less character/class choices, and almost all pubs are filled with idiots w/o mic's.
Tl;Dr-Evolve would be better, but the fun comes from real competition and skill, and pubs are ass. Realistically, you'll probably get more play time out of cod.
I've played both. Advanced Warfare had a pretty good campaign and the multiplayer was pretty fun. They still hadn't ironed out all of the spawn issues, but it was relatively different from previous CODs. It might be my favorite since the first Black Ops.
Evolve is a ton of fun, but only if you have other people to play it with. It requires intense cooperation and communication, and becomes more enjoyable the smarter you play it. My first few games were spent running directly behind the monster trying to catch it, but it was too fast. Then we started sending two people to cut it off through the middle while the others stayed behind and called out where they saw it. Even though the DLC is overpriced, none of it is necessary and all new maps and modes will be free.
I'd pick COD if you don't have enough friends to play Evolve with. If you can get a group of 4 or 5 together, Evolve is very fun.
