When redeeming bounties, how is the XP distributed? Is it spread across all items that have upgrade potential? If you have nothing equipped that can be upgraded, what happens to the experience points?
Would it be recommended to do something like swap in lower level gear just to have it 'absorb' the XP? And then dismantle it?

2 RepliesAll XP goes to anything that can accept it. It's not divided up: if you get 50 XP, and two items can accept it, they both get 50 XP*. It absolutely is worth swapping in green items and then sharding them: any slot that's full is not collecting XP that it could be.
* Don't believe me? Do some bounties, then do some science and prove me wrong. Facts aren't open to debate.
1 ReplyHere's your answer! Equally distributed regardless of what's equipped! See image! http://i.imgur.com/NrmMIG3.jpg Original reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2jip4l/psa_xp_applies_equally_across_all_gear_it_is_not/ Have a great day!

4 RepliesNo one really knows how xp is distributed. But, you don't lose xp if you don't have any upgradable items equipped. If you are level 20 or above, it goes towards your next mote of light. That's about all I know.

Every item gets the amount of XP the bounty contains.
