Marathon Community Comms: Where To Find Us
Mar 26, 2026 - Marathon Community Team
We have a soft spot for a good blog. Over the years at Bungie, they’ve been a place to gather news, share stories, and point you toward what's coming next. With Marathon, you'll see us talking in more places than ever – so we wanted to take a moment to let you know where you can find us.
Think of this blog as your one-stop shop for all things Marathon comms. If you want quick service updates, deeper context around changes, or a place to talk with other Runners, you should always know where to go and what to expect when you get there.
When we sat down to map out how we talk about Marathon with our community, three values kept rising to the top. They shape how often you hear from us, what we say, and where you will find it, whether we are walking through a small hotfix or a major update.
Think of them as the ground rules for how we show up in your feeds.
- Low latency: When something happens, we talk about it quickly. If an issue pops up in the middle of your evening, you shouldn’t have to wait until next week to know what’s going on.
- High accuracy: We keep updates smaller and more focused so the information you see is clear, current, and easy to trust.
- Close to you: We share news in the places you already check. That means Discord, in-game notices, and social channels you use every day.
Everything that follows in this post ties back to these three values, and how they show up across each of our channels.
Here’s a quick rundown on how we plan to share info on other platforms.
Service and Status
If something might change your night, start on Discord. The #marathon-news and #server-status channels are where we post first. You can also find the latest server updates from BungieServerStatus on Twitter and Bluesky. (And for major events, you’ll also see an in-game message.)
Maintenance gets the full set, both on Discord and BungieServerStatus. Heads up the day before, a reminder an hour out, a start post with the expected end time, then a done post that includes a link to any relevant patch notes.
Depth and Context
When you want the “why” behind the “what,” make sure to point yourself here to Bungie.net for any lengthier blog updates. These will be on less of a specific cadence, so keep your eyes on our MarathonTheGame social media channels to ensure you don’t miss them when they arrive.
Discord is the Hub
We are standing up clear, focused channels so you can choose your own signal to receive.
- #marathon-news: Where you’ll find all of our latest updates as they happen – and thankfully, it’s also a Discord Announcements channel so you can import it directly to your own server.
- #server-status: Any updates that are relevant to your gameplay experience will land here.
- #dev-updates: Patch notes, feature updates, and known issue lists will all land in here. Follow here to make sure you get the nitty gritty details.
- #marathon-community-art-chat: A great place to drop by to find out some of the latest and greatest creators and artists in the Marathon community.
In-Game Notices
When something is critical, we will use in-game messages to reach everyone. That includes incidents, maintenance windows, updates, system changes, and known severe issue disclaimers.
We may also use this space to raise awareness for community events and special opportunities from time to time, but won’t be delivering every single piece of info here to avoid overwhelming your in-game mailboxes.
Social Media
We know a great many of you spend your time out in the wild world of social media. It just so happens, we do too.
- On @MarathonTheGame, you’ll see the big picture. That’s where we will share trailers, major announcements, events, and community highlights, the kinds of updates you’ll want to share with your crew.
- On @MarathonDevTeam, we will go deeper into the details. Expect links to patch notes, system updates, developer insights, and more of the nuts and bolts from the team building the game.
We’ll keep our posts clear and direct. If you have thoughts, questions, or longer feedback, Reddit, Steam, and Discord will be great places for us to dig in with you. We have accounts across the board, so keep an eye out for us!
Behind the Curtain
Together with our colleagues here at Bungie, we run a bevy of cross-functional syncs with teams across Design, Engineering, Support, Live Ops, Comms, and more. These teams will also work with us to make sure that we’re erring on the side of accuracy - and, from time to time, you might see a post directly from one of them as well.
All in all though, our goal as the Marathon Community Team remains abundantly clear - to make sure that you always have the latest and most accurate information possible.
