All of that makes way too much sense to not be true. It really is a shame.. I just hope they're able to course correct in time and get more unique content out the door before people start leaving by the thousands.

Its a shame but personally its not unexpected. The "vision" for destiny appears to have largely been based in how should perform in the market, setting an end point but without the necessary foundation on which to build up to it (see. various notable comments about not trying to create art). Even if things had gone according to plan I doubt that the product would have been entirely satisfactory because even at a conceptual level Destiny is pretty derivative. You can find most of its setting and art in a Warhammer 40k codex and its gameplay in generic MMO's and FPS's across the industry. Cut levels and cut cinematics may have helped specific content and plot progression issues but the levels we have are still structurally homogeneous (ie. boring) and the dialog is still bad in every respect (ie. in delivery and writing and that's simply taking each line on its own merits, rather than as pieces to a botched whole). Being slim and incoherent are only parts of this game's problems so I'm not going to take this dev's comments as any indication that we were robbed of a truly brilliant game by sudden development changes. Those didn't help the project, but they were also by no means the only contributing factor to what this game is. His comments are, none the less, fascinating (if you take them at face value).
