  • Pvp was declining before we got a strike team. I swear you ppl would look at a building that's burning, look at someone splash water on it, then claim the water must be at fault because it's still burning.

    • Clearly.....you were wrong. There's no other way to see it under your terms. This thread appears to be your mail - in, yes? PvP strike team is righting 8 years worth of wrongs resulting in numbers collapse in February. It's a hard 180 in emergency mode. You're further ahead acknowledging like this because no amount of stumping / complaining here is going to change the course, which is based in correcting failures. It's not personal. Get to know your history.

    • Maps are important but balance is the bread and butter of the pvp experience. Seeing hand cannons and pulse rifles everywhere kind of sucks. I would love to see bows again in pvp, side arms feel meh, auto rifles are ok “ish”, scouts are extremely situational depending on map, if I missed any other archetype then yeah that speaks for itself. Specials are slowly creeping back up, I’m seeing more shotguns and fusions again. Ttk is slower which sucks because it promotes hand holding. That also turns me off from pvp. Its like bungie makes good changes every here and there and then messes up the game by doing some random change for no reason. Not one person was complaining about ttk being fast, I don’t see why bungie had to increase player health. It was not needed

    • Remember when the new strike team said that one of the first changes they wanted to make was to move the end of match victory/defeat banner up so that it doesn't cover the reticle? That should tell you all you need to know.

      • There used to be an actual PvP team. It got dismantled and Crucible was abandoned for 2/3 years. Then we got “renewed focus” which was bare minimum. Now we have a “PvP strike team” which is better than bare minimum, but still nowhere near what PvP used to get. It’s been quite the rollercoaster ride and anyone trying to pick apart why some periods were better than others needs to take all that into account. Bottom line is: PvP has been low priority for a long time.

          It needs to be someone's fault whose fault it hasn't been yet that the control playlist is this embarrassing to look at after 7 years. People teleporting and the game balancing itself by dropping people from matches like its been doing for years now. The best people can come up with for that nasty crap is "blame the streamers." Yes they can be convinced to let the game run off of stats, but that's not the reason it runs like that. And for some odd reason one playlist working like that isn't good enough, they all need to have some amount of that for some odd reason. Its time to cut the caboose!

          • Pvp has been dying for a long time, ever since the original people who made/Maintained pvp left or got fired it's just been going down hill and it will probably only keep getting worse till the game is dead.

          • PvP was pretty good back when we were maxing at 15xx power level. now it is a joke.

          • It is a golden age for PVP [b][i]potential[/i][/b].. new maps... hardware mode.. the sillies have their sparrow control/mayhem.. even other nodes... for different modes... to travel other roads? Balancing that is a nightmare.. and obviously any sane-average-ish player rage quits these matches at times... I do think they are trying.. I do think they adjust.. I dont know I'm silly I have hope What more do you want... Trials and Comp.. from what I hear needs too much TLC and dev time to fix for all.. ...if I'm able to have fun in 6s.. testing various legendary rolls and make it through some comp that's enough for me (at least for now) ...I'll still complain that exotics are too powerful, shotguns should not exist, stacks are a problem.. why no frikkin freelance.. blah blah blah... but I realize its just a game.. login try to have fun where you can.. this stuff is free except trials.. maybe if they monetized it.. it would be better.. but.. the dude abides

            It always declines over time and its on a cycle just like a lot of other things. Its mostly based on economic principles so that's how it plays out over time. But it got to a really low low point prior to the establishment of the strike team and it got that way by giving a certain set of players basically everything they wanted. Then they realized (or might not have even realized) that sbmm works the same for everyone so they quit. And the player population plummety. Further than it should have had any reason to. Since then its gone up to about what it always has been. Its going to be fun watching what happens with it after Final Shape comes out. There's a group of people that seems to think that a good experience with this game includes watching other people play broken matches while they get basically conveyor belted to wins and weapons. So watching those people get what they deserve can be just as satisfying as when the game works the way it should.
