Oh, I've made a horrible decision || WITCHER 3 SPOILERS||

This thread is going to spoil the shit out of The Crones of Crookback Bog and Return to Crookback Bog, as well as plenty of the Bloody Baron's quest line.
Alright, so I played and completed that whole questline, finding Tamara, saving Anna. It ended with Anna being taken away somewhere to stop being batshit crazy. I can clearly see that resulting from my decision to not help free the Druid spirit under the Womping Willow tree. Due to some technical bullcrap with my PS4 I had to wipe my save that had completed that quest with that particular decision, creating the result above. When I caught back up, I decided to go the other way. Freed the Druid spirit, he went and saved the Orphans in Crookback Bog; but at the same time sought vengeance on the people of a nearby village, using some magic BS to make them all kill each other. As if that wasn't bad enough, when the Bloody Baron and I went back into the Bog to get Anna, she had been cursed and turned into something that looked like a Water Hag, with more purple. The curse needed to be lifted, so I went and talked to Johnny(best character ever), he told me to check the cellar in the big house. Blah blah blah, stuff in the cellar lifted the curse, but it turns out Anna was doomed anyway and she died in her daughter's arms. Both Tamara and the Baron were devastated, and he told me to collect my reward back at Crow's Perch. When I got there, I went to the courtyard to find that he hanged himself. Point is, I didn't think that helping or not helping that Druid douche was that significant, but it changed the entire outcome of the quest and killed off a few characters. This game is an unforgiving feels train.
T_T

    • It just goes to show you, that even the best intentions can have harsh consequences. I saved the spirit to save the children. It seemed like the right thing to do. The crones were kinda douchey, and I didn't trust them. I figured they had to be using the kids for some sort of evil, and that they had to be saved. I didn't care to much that downwarren got wiped out, because they served the crones. I had no idea that my simple decisions would have such dire results in the end though lol.

    • Killing the tree spirit gives you the "good" or I guess less bad ending for the baron. The tree spirit doesn't save the kids either

    • This is the reason it's such a good game. Your descisions, big and small, affect the world around you.

    • You changed more than you think as well. Major spoiler in the spoiler
theres a quest related to the main quest that you have to go back and kill the witches and one of their guests. I killed the tree so the witches and their guest was there to kill. I'm not sure how it would've played out had I saved the tree spirit...
Some people need to explore a bit more and stop believing everything they get told.....
The spirit under the tree isn't a druid. She is connected to the 3 witches. There is a note that explains exactly who she is and how she ended up trapped there. She's not good. As soon as you free her she kills a lot of people and she was incredibly evil when she was alive. She makes the 3 witches look like angels
• Kind of cool that the crones were modeled after the wëird sisters in Macbeth.

        And it is because of these things in this game that I love this game. There is no good or bad,black or white,everything is grayish and I love that in RPG,s.
