DadsofDestiny X1 Delta - Thanks for a great Fist year of DELTA!!!

Prepare for a long read: Team Delta: On the eve of the one year anniversary (or is it birthday) of our clan I find myself reflecting on the past year: A year ago I was outside my home in Brooklyn smoking a cigarette with my buddy Newlin when he told me about a clan system in the upcoming game Destiny by Bungie. He pointed me to this article that was published in Forbes magazine: http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2014/09/03/destiny-fans-taking-friends-only-raid-matchmaking-into-their-own-hands/ I thought to myself, I raid, I’m a Dad, I’m gonna play the living daylights out of Destiny, I would prefer to play with likeminded other dads, and I’m a functioning alcoholic who drinks all night while playing video games and has my speech devolve into a slurred mess of grunts, groans and profanity laced babble and would sure as hell appreciate some company during my descent into a drunken oblivion and save the universe as we know it at the same time. (Did I type that or think it?) With that thought in mind I came to work the very next day and did what I always did, I jumped on the internet an started surfing that sweet wave of useless information, but on this day instead of doing anything useful I figured I would onto Bungie.net to find these Dads of Destiny I had read about the night before. The Forbes article had picked up steam and the Dads of Destiny Clan was overrun with people trying to join. People may not remember, but the entire Dads of Destiny Systems was a disjointed mess at launch, and there were so many clans of different names and types that finding one was difficult, and joining one was ever more challenging. I settled on one called DOD X1 Wizards and started writing to anyone and everyone in the clan trying to figure out how to get the clan tag, how to get a fireteam together and practically begged the admins to help…to no avail. Another Dad (CaRican) was having a similar issue and said he was going to start a new clan DoD x1 Delta and asked me to come along with him from Wizards to form the new clan, and that is how X1 Delta was born. I went out and mercilessly wrote into the boards of the DoD x1 Wizards that we had a NEW clan that had a responsive leadership group and was interested in really having a fun group of people who would play together and work together in order to help one another advance in this massive game. Low and behold, people started joining, and joining and joining…..Newlin, Colles, NeonSk8er, Paidwhitefang, Trashboat (no longer in Delta but not forgotten), Serious Face, Two 7, Packman, Kyler, Abra, Paddle, Jun, Deuces and TexasJoker were among the first to join. My friends list was growing faster than I could keep up with. People kept coming and the clan wall BLEW UP with conversation. Today, one YEAR after the launch of Destiny and our Clan 34 of the 100 members of our clan came from the 9/12/14 – 9/30/14 date range. Literally one third of the guys in this clan signed up for it in the first 18 days of the games existence, and are still active members today….that’s a hell of a lot of guys to stick around for a full year playing the same game with a lot of the same people. (Just to put things in perspective, we have 46 members who still play and are active in what I call phase 1 of destiny…pre Crota Raid…that’s just crazy) A group of hardcore players led by Paidwhitefang, Prie5t (on the waiting list to rejoin), Me7us, and others were the first Deltas to take down Atheon. Followed closely by My raid team of Jun, Neon, Majik, Colles, and Kyler. Everyone started pitching in and tons of people were sherpad through the Vault of Glass. (At this time Havaclu still was refusing to play Vog). One of our Admins SSJ Tapunks would hold raid Saturdays and Sundays and help anyone who wanted to play VoG get to Atheon and tons of Deltas were completing the end game content…and so many of us were stuck at Level 29. And some grumblings began…and there was a little bit of frustration building. A number of people put down the game, and others departed to start their own clan…but the Core players remained, primarily because of the roots they had put down with one another. So many hours, so many days playing a game together, so many friends and relationships made…who could walk away from that? The Dark Below Dropped and phase wo of Delta started as well. We added Aajaha, Packtray, x34r0w, Fenris, Red (the Fridge), Concrete, Chummy, Cracker, Ski, Stink, Flash and a ton of new guys…We ran Left side strat against Crota for months before the Ledge system was created and Crota was actually very very challenging and Very Very broken. Me and a ton of guys were pulling the cord in order to freeze Crota in a Kneeling position…it was just insane. The Crota content is really what made Delta what it is today and cemented Delta as the place to be. We had the best players, we had the best friends, we had the best Clan in the game. Everyone wanted to be us or with us and we did and still had/have a waiting list because of the amazing environment we brought and still bring to the table. The Wall, the forums, and the friends lists were bursting at the seams for everyone who joined our group. We are now at the end of the HoW expansion, thank god. Collectively and individually this has been the most trying time that our clan has faced. The three man content has strained everyone and I am truly looking forward to jumping back into six man content with both feet. I want take a moment to thank ALL OF YOU DELTAS! You are what make this clan amazing. I look at each and every one of you and offer my sincerest and deepest thanks. Starting this clan was done on a whim…watching all the members become friends with one another and the relationships grow has made it worthwhile. We will head into year two together and I look forward to playing more with everyone. DELTA!!!!! P.S. – Special thanks to: Havaclu – The best voice and most level head in the game…who doesn’t want to play with Clu? Due2Lose & Monkey – Thanks for taking half the clan through Skolas and everything else you do to help others Aajaha and White Flash – Thanks for taking the other half of the clan through Skolas Newlin - for being the first member of the clan and “My main man” Paid – for coming back home  and helping everyone with your info on the boards and in game Hrothgar – For always playing anything at anytime Carpe – For protecting us all (In real life and in the game) Gorilla – For the time his wife asked us to add him to a raid team Krav, Cavman, Red, Russell – for all the PvP fun Opulent – for being the most chilled out guy ever Plexer – for having a worse PvP KD than me EmDog – Your Titan Bubble have way to many holes in them Fenris – You are the same guy as Carpe right? Concretesnake – for leaving Defiance to come to us (get off that PS4) Chummy – You are the guy that keeps everyone smiling. Hey we need a 6th – GO GET CHUMMY! CROTTTTTTTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA NOOB – because we love you NOOB!! Rhitgpeck, Ragefist, Trash – You guys rule…we will have you back in Delta soon SSj Tapunks – The man who helped the most people early in the game, you are missed And a Extraordinary thanks to my original Raid Team: Jun – The man who has revived me ten thousand times Majik – um, hm…Stop patronizing me already Neon – Remember you were never supposed to do that first raid with us? It's ok that I wasn't mentioned. I know your love/respect for me cannot be expressed in mere words. Thanks for all you do Rex. Top man. Great year one Delta. I've got a feeling though that Year two will be even better! Proud to be one of you.
