I'm beginning to get very curious about the awoken. Maybe more speculation will make September 9th come faster!

It is now confirmed (having been in the official destiny strategy guide) that the Awoken fled out into deep space at the start of the collapse, and something changed them. Now most of the awoken live put in the remains of the reef, but some came back to earth to protect the place they once called home... This is what ot says on like page 3 of the Official Destiny Strategy guide, but i want to know more; what changed them? Where did they go? Why are they Blue? Why do most of them live in the reef? I am an awoken in destiny so id like to know all pf this stuff co it is "My" past...

1 ReplyWell to look at The Awoken u must look at The Hive, The Vex, Exo, Humans, Cabal & Fallen, truth is we don't know if humanity had other alien species - it's possible their were other alien race, or The Travelers/The Darkness appearance caused new forms of life to form on the multiple planets or if they're all humans just changed. It's extremely confusing due to this it is really hard to say/pin down something especially since the length of The Golden Age is unknown. The Hive know the darkness well to be in regular contact with it for a long time but how long? If they are all from beyond our system why are other planets beyond our system not mentioned? Did The Traveler &/or The Darkness bring them all or did they come themselves? If so, how? Did they all just form on other planets in our system? Then theirs The Vex who I believe are simply bad Exo's that opposed the good Exo's we play as & that The Vex are from the past during the war with The Darkness, which means my theory would opposes the theory that the Exo's are human souls put inside machines to fight The Darkness. That might would mean NONE of the other races - Hive, Vex, Awoken, Fallen, Exo & Cabal are changed humans. The Fallen &/or Cabal don't like The Hive or Darkness but they also don't like The Guardians. That means they have a grudge against us because they were a race lost to the darkness or they consider it just business & think it's a better bet to side with The Darkness or both. It is also unknown if Awoken are immortal (immortal & invincible are 2 very different things mind you) if they are then that would explain a lot. They are obviously a old & very wise race also they don't go around saying they're humans that have been awoken by some event nor are maintaining a human like culture, they seem to be they're own thing. Yes i'd expect them to have they're own culture but it is FAR different from human cultures, no roots seem to go back to human cultures except for the shop keepers whom you interact with however it clearly states earth born awoken are not the same as "pure" reef born Awoken which means they might not be changed humans either but I could be wrong as human culture is massively diverse but I still always notice similarities. It gets more confusing if u try to say humans were "The Last Cycle" & we are entering "A New Cycle" like it went from dinosaurs to humans.... The only things we can draw is that they might be awoken humans, awoken by what is unknown perhaps even to themselves like The Exo. We know The Travler & maybe The Darkness can create life, the most direct solid example is your ghost. Are they aliens or new formed life, unknown however we know they are old, wise, elfish, vampric race & desire to be left be which may mean they do not like fighting much or do not concern themselves with the world of mortals, earth, much

3 RepliesThey were Born in the "wake" of the collapse, Meaning Right After (think of a speed boat down a river and the wake right after it speeds by) everyone was Human during the collapse (not alien) not until after did they change. Maybe they thought there was no hope (dead orbit faction thinks this also they are Awoken too, common belief between them handed down from generations) and left to find answers to this solve this or whatever reason they had, they found "something" not darkness or they would have been consumed by it.(besides no race or class has darkness powers)I am leaning towards Time travel/worm hole they found, (not unlike the VEX) and they went thru they saw what was to become (or what was not) and that is why they think they have reached transcendence and light and dark means nothing to them, What I want to know is how many of "US" survived after the collapse how they built the city and knew there is this force field around the traveler, the awoken came back during the final stand?? somehow?? and people repopulated over the course of hundreds of years. Was there guardians before the collapse?? how about if you choose to be an awoken you awake again when dinklebot revives you lol.

I would think that the name would have an affect of where they came from. Maybe they could be the AWOKEN DEAD GHOSTS that we find in the world of Destiny? It could be the Ghosts, but as a PHYSICAL form. Or the name could probably be there just because it sounds cool and Awoken can probably be humans who became altered due to expansion into space, not neccesarily evolved, probably just an offshoot of humans who began living on other planets. Or like I have been seeing on this forums a lot, they can just be evolved humans.

i think the the awoken are humans that were exposed to the darkness and were banded { in case of disease } from the human inhabited planets and found the reef and then when the last city was created the city needed warriors and some went back to redeem them selfs and to the queen any awoken left { other then some scouts } are traders. p.s. the awoken in the reef may have an alliance with the fallen house of winter

Or, the awoken are alien, like humoniod creatures, more so than exos. Maybe they were the ones the made the traveller, or at least control it in some way. If their origin is a mystery, couldnt they have made the traveller..... im not sure, im hardly right so dont believe in this theory

I think it transfused their skin (made it magical) which made it glow!!! Not that this has any relevance to much.... it just makes them look sexy!!!

So, from what we know, the Awoken were created in the collapse. Whatever happened to them, they were once human. I think they were created by the wake of the cataclysmic melee between the Darkness and the Traveler--the Traveler and Darkness's violent interaction created some wave of change that overtook them, "awakening" them. We only know if humans trying to escape the collapse were made into Awoken, and that most of them live in the Reef. From a quote from the Awoken Grimoire Card: [i]"Others sing a song of light and dark. We have transcended such unimaginative limitations.[/i] This connects somewhat to my theory above. What if Reef Awoken they are neutral in the struggle between light and dark? Perhaps "Awoken" refers to the fact that they see the whole eternal picture, and not just one side of the debate--woken up to a cosmic truth. Also, what do we know of their physiology? Their skin is blue/purple in color, their eyes glow, and their skin also seems to sparkle with some sort of residual energy. But, what advantages does that entail? Perhaps the Awoken can see better in low light, or can detect fluxes in light and dark.

During the collapse of the golden age when the darkness was closing in and the traveler was moved half of the humans decided to flee the earth because the darkness consumed everything. As the Half of the humans flee into the far reaches of the solar system they were exposed to the darkness, here it was decided that again they would split and some returned to earth to take shelter in the travelers shadow whereas the other continued to travel further out. As the survivors that fled back to earth they began to rebuild, as the generations passed on each generation began to exhibit a different in skin pigmentation and glowing eyes. The ones that continued into space stopped when the damage was extensive and many dying, as a result The Reef was founded not far but still in orbit around earth. Here in the Reef the awoken have a home but shared with the fallen, ones that do not hate the humans, their feelings are mutual.

3 RepliesThe awoken are a race of aliens influenced by ghosts, vampires, and elves. Vampire space elves. They are very unknow of where they came from and what there end goal was, there goal as a guardian is to protect earth. I have seen a couple videos of a female awoken guarded by some fallen vandals... so that might give a twist of there actually intentions of being dark.
