Sometimes I wish MLG hadn't used Forge

I just finished watching a single MLG King of the Hill match on Battle Canyon, and it honestly felt awesome. It's so nostalgic to see players coming back to that particular map that has always been with us since the beginning. Everything was so cheerful, everyone seemed to be having fun, and the map had life in it, it had color, it had soul. It was beautiful. But then, the video was over and I found myself upon the endless pile of gameplays, commentaries and montages done over gray, dull maps all over Forge World. Sometimes I hate the fact that competitive players want pure symmetrical maps in order to play. Sometimes I wish there had been MLG matches on Reflection, Anchor 9 or even Uplink (if anyone remembers that, map, which in my opinion was great). Sometimes, I wish the so called "skill" was agreed by everyone to actually be to play on Default maps, and not boring forge variants.
You actually just invalidated your opinion more. I didnt think it was possible. The settings are altered in MLG and arena to make it as fair as possible. The settings are the same across the board in those playlists. Things like AAs, and bad maps have no place in a competitive setting.
Everything was "fair" back in Halo 2, whether players liked it or not, since players couldn't change the game to their liking in order for them to be "good" at it. Players were good in awesome maps that didn't involve dull colors or perfectly symmetrical spawns. And players like that were respected, since they were all playing with the same settings as anyone, in the same maps as anyone. I now see MLG pros as "those guys who can play the best in this gray maps with this No Bloom and No AAs settings". And I don't know what are you refering to with my CoD argument, since I believe any game can be played competitively. [Edited on 05.06.2012 1:16 AM PDT]
