Have you read the kotaku article? Bungie have said they won't make the same mistake with levelling weapons as they did with dark below.
Besides it takes what 2 days at the most to level a weapon? And this is how most mmos do it. (yes I know this isn't a true mmo bla bla bla.....)

Actually you can level up and exotic in one day. Just equip 10 bounties for each character and complete them, pop a telemetry and turn them in
