Those who failed.... Is there a reason to continue destiny?

There was only one thing left to do... I had reached level 32, had a deadly arsenal of weaponry including maxed out Icebreaker and Gallajhorn. Destiny offered one final obstacle, Hard Crota. With nobody available to challenge crota, I turned to Destiny Tracker's raid finding chat function. Soon a random level 32 team was formed. With high hopes and a set of deadly weapons at our disposal, we set out to destroy Crota using my hardmode checkpoint. We had dreams winning legendary scout rifles and shaders. One member already had the glowing shader marking triumph over hard Crota equiped. We believed we could succeed. We thought we had a strategy. We failed. We scored damage on crota during the first sword run, but that is as far as we got. The sword user could not make it back alive. On the one attempt we actually succeeded in hitting Crota hard and escaping, he glitched and followed us into the building, decimating the team. On another attempt the sword disapeared entirely the moment the sword bearer dropped it. But overall, we really had no idea what we were doing. Soon the team lost hope and members started vanishing. One by one they left, until the team was no more. Crota had won. It became apparent very quickly that I had neither the skill or the social connections to ever conquer hard Crota, and I began to wonder if there was any point to continuing. First off, congratulations to everyone who succeeded in killing hard Crota. You people are the true "Destiny Legends." But what about the rest of us who cannot? VOG is now pointless, Vangaurd Roc also no longer offers anything of value to my level 32, and there is nothing worthwhile to use crucible marks on. The only left is to shoot things with my low end raid pulse rifle until it levels up, but If I cannot defeat Crota, is there really a point to doing so? What is truly left for those of us who cannot beat crota? Are we to wait until the next dlc renders all gear and weaponry obsolete so the cycle can restart? I don't know, I have lost hope now and see no reason to continue. I guess my legend ends at Crota. -Sad rant of a hopeless gaurdian.

 • I quit destiny and sold the game, im still on the forums because i want to help others quit as well
Tl;Dr found at the bottom. Look how many people deny their addiction and defend the game, knowing damn well the game is designed to play off of the reward system we all have in our brains, even with the simple probability of being rewarded is enough to keep people attached. If anything destiny is an incredible social experiment. Not a good game, not even close. Once you step away for a bit, examine the fundamentals behind the game you'll see its deliberately and psychologically manipulative, designed to keep you playing just to see what's in the next engram. It's Las Vegas in a video game. Except instead of money it's your time. Throw in hundreds of hours, with maybe 20 minutes of those that are actually efficient in getting leveled up. The rest is spent navigating around the time limits that serve no real purpose, the random drops where once in awhile you get something decent only to find out every other player has the same damn item. Bungie has made it clear that this will never be the game they described to us. There will never be an intricate galaxy wide story. There will never be additional areas, as seen from the house of Wolves leaked content. You cannot go where ever your eyes can reach, as purposed by Bungie spokespeople repeatedly. There will be and endless grind resulting in nothing of actual relevance, since every other gaurdian in the galaxy has the same damn outfit, cloak, mark etc Their first dlc was twenty to thirty minutes long, that was the same god damn locations just in the opposite direction the second dlc is more of the same. Tl;Dr,....game blows, destiny can't make an rpg, if you defend the game remember addicts always defend and hate the substance their addicted too. The hamster wheel was the main inspiration behind this game.
