300 Attack does NOT do full damage to lvl 30 enemies
Yea I know BUT FATEBRINGER!!!! That's probably fine for now but HoW will have 365 attack and in a month you'll be doing 30% less damage. Pretty substantial.
There are obviously a few exception such as Fatebringer in CE HM thralls or certain perks on some weapons. But all things being equal people should understand how damage works and more replies have clearly showed they don't.
Do your own research. Google it. Try it. You can probably get away with a 300 now, but with the expansion pack and 365 attack weapons, they will become obsolete doing 30% less damage (speculation). This started as an honest question, as I am new to the game and trying to figure things out, people seem to think I want to change the 2nd amendment and take away their Fatebringer.

If all you are comparing is identical weapons with different attack caps then, yes, not using the 331 option is not smart, but almost no one has that option. I have yet to get a hand cannon worth replacing the ones I currently own with. And while my Badger CCL can hit for 1220 on a precision strike it still can't kill a level 30 vandal in one shot. Compared to my VoC, the greater damage per hit doesn't make up for the amount of damage the VoC can dish out per magazine. Your math is technically correct but it is still very misleading and inaccurate for the point you are trying to make with it.

Spoiler alert: 14.5% more damage." ...maybe I'm just misunderstanding this, but imo if you want to get relevant comparison you have to compare Maxed 331 vs. Maxed 300 (not stock) ideally also with same impact other than the above i pretty much agree, maxed 331 guns do more damage than 300 ones, in General however they do Max damage to certain enemies - 300 gun up to lvl 30 enemy etc (in other words you will deal the exact same damage to lvl 5 Dreg regardless of whether you use maxed 331 or 300 handcannon) then there's the damage penalty (i.e. Handcannons have damage penalty to Majors, unlike Auto rifles for example) then there's guns such as Fatebringer which you use mainly for its perks

In order to make a good comparison you would need to compare a maxed 300 weapon to a maxed 331 with same impact and same weapon type. Impact is what matters in this game.

3 RepliesI use 300 weapons because I either haven't found an adequate replacement for them or simply think they are better. The fact that the new vendor weapons and the rolls on them are less than desirable doesn't help either. I'd like nothing more than to get a 331 Machine Gun which actually feels half decent, but I've yet to find one.

2 RepliesMy 331 timurs lash with field scout, grenadier (amazing underrated perk, constant grenades are nice), and outlaw takes two shots to kill a level 33 acolyte. My fatebringer also requires two shots while maintaining a faster fire rate are causing explosions. [b] The only time a 331 weapon will make a noticeable difference is against majors or ultras which you should be using a special weapon on anyways. I'm sticking to my fatebringer and pulling out my arc efrideet's spear with firefly, performance bonus, and field scout as needed. Black hammer or ice breaker will also suffice.[/b] Tldr fvck off

6 RepliesAlso this graph points out that no matter what gun or what level over 30 you are, apparently your guns just lose all effectiveness beyond level 30. The end of the graph does not seem accurate at all.

It's because Attack has nothing to do with the level of the enemies. There is 0 damage difference in a lvl 32 shooting a 30 or a 32 with a 300 attack gun.

2 RepliesBecause they're still better. The only non-Raid gun I've found that's better than the old 300 guns is the Up For Anything. Fatebringer still does more damage than any other hand cannon, with the exception of Word of Crota. And even then; it only does 10 points less.

2 RepliesYou want me to get rid of my The Devil You Know for The Devil You Don't simply because it has 31 attack more? That's absurd. My TDYK has higher impact (higher impact = more damage, just an FYI), range, stability and magazine size compared to TDYD and the perks I have makes it an insane long range weapon.

My fully upgraded 300 FB does more damage than my fully upgraded 331 WoC. Critical hits on level 33 acolytes in Crotas End, WoC does 1038. FB does 1059. Plus damage to nearby enemies when they explode. Pretty close? Yes. Will I still use the WoC? Yes because of the void damage. Is FB still awesome? It sure is!

The only ones I use re the vog ones for the burn. I dont currently have a 331 scout rifle leveled, but irs geting there. If I didnt have a void sniper at lvl 32 but I had a 300 one I would hang on and use it for some very specific strikes/missions. Somw of the perks on guns or really that good, othertimes theyll I more damage because of the burn.

It's mostly that so many of the new 331 weapons aren't very good. Fatebringer is an obvious one, but a 300 swarm or deviant gravity with a good set of upgrades is also worth more in most situations than a new mg with mediocre upgrades. The new snipers are great, but the new versions of everything else aren't so good. I rarely see 300 weapons outside of fatebringer, voc, a great mg roll or a great fusion rifle roll.
