I started playing destiny after the shutdown of psn at Christmas. Just today I went to xur to max out my symbiote hunter helmet. I bought the crystal from xur and suddenly just below in his menu, the helmet lit up under the category of upgrade exotics. So I clicked on it thinking, yes this will get me to level 30. Guess what! Reset my helmet to base stats. This is very upsetting. Low and behold, all I needed was to upgrade in my character screen. I feel I was tricked. Now my plans of having level 30 for a raid tonight are all but a dream. Why Bungie? Don't light up an item as if it were the next step and erase my hard earned stats. Please reset my helmet! For God and Country! Please!

you ate lead paint chips as a child, didn't you?

They are considering to adjust the exotic resets with HOW.

It is confusing. People are assholes and have balls online to say stuff like "you eat paint chips" or call you "stupid" when they would probably get the crap get out of them by you in reality. The fact of the matter is that by looking at your profile, it is clear to see you are rather new to Destiny. That update is there for pre-DLC items. Sometimes with armor, it can improve certain buffs like strength. Reading your responses, it is clear you have learned your lesson the hard way. Hopefully #bungie reads this and corrects the problem. As new players come into the Destiny world, this will only become a bigger problem. So, I am glad you a pointing this out.

Xur upgrades are for exotics from before the dlc, if you started playing after Christmas you already had 36 light exotics and there's really no point in upgrading
-
Yeah it really is wrong that it offers the upgrade on gear that's already upgraded. Unfortunately you're like the fifth or sixth person to have this happen. I hope more people notice it, but you had missed the rarlier posts too sadly. Well, you won't make that mistake again. One by one we'll get people figuring it out.

I did not post this to hear about how I screwed up. I am well aware. I will live to play another day. This post is meant for the unaware like myself who will hopefully research this topic and not get fooled like I was.

Thank you Senator for understanding my point.

Buyer beware! Lol

I started playing after right after Thanksgiving.. everything I got before the DLC has been scraped... 😡
-
No he's not stupid the same thing happened to my friend with The Last Word
-
Dude, it shows - pretty clearly, I might add - that the result has base, un-upgraded stats. Yes, it's a little sketchy, but he's not in charge of leveling up your gear, you are.
-
Are you stupid it madevyour helm go from mac light of 30 to 36
-
Happened to me to rest all my leveled up truth rocket I'm pissed

It's worse than that! the base helmet had a discipline max of 112 after the upgrade the max was LOWERed to 109. So not only did we waste money getting the upgrade but we actually made our helmets LESS effective. I did the same thing and it sux. Good thing you did it last week and not this week because this weeks "upgrade" lowers discipline even further to 99!

This shows how upgrading from a 2.0 exotic to another 2.0 exotic benefits a player. Assuming that the price of glimmer, exotic shards and loss of armour progression out weighs the increase in Strength, Discipline, or Intellect. Upgrading a 2.0 exotic for another 2.0 exotic only makes sense when upgrading armour pieces, as there is a chance that Xur is providing an upgrade with higher strength, discipline or intellect. Keep in mind any upgrade through Xur will reset your progress tree for that item. Your weapons will not change any stats or perks, unless you upgrade a max 300 damage weapon for a max 331 damage weapon. In that instance, only damage will change, and any progress will be reset to a base weapon tree. I hope this clears some of your confusion.

A new exotic has the same light level as maxed pre dlc exotic. The only thing that resets are the perks. What are you talking about??
-
The xur upgrades are for when you gave the old lvl 31
-
This is to funny
-
Learn the rules of the game before you go off bitching about it.
-
It's not a flaw, they warn you about it. And they aren't gonna do that because exotic armor doesn't take very long to upgrade at all... Ah Christmas Noobs crack me up...

Edited by EVIL VENOM: 1/24/2015 3:07:59 AMIt resets the stats( not reroll) but upgrades to a higher light level +36 You need to re level the item but it will be stronger once leveled up Pay attention bud!
-
You've got to jump in the water sooner or later, why procrastinate?
-
It can suck for people that aren't paying attention best I can do is say try to pay attention more next time.
