•
Too bad Shishka is the Playlist Overlord and actually has some say in what's against the rules, while Lukems is only the Bungie Content guy.
I never said he wasn't. I said "nice contradiction." Its really nice when two Bungie employees contradict eachother, especially on something like this where people's accounts are on the line, where they may be banned. Lukems said its not against the rules, so when shishka says it is, it just makes me think: Don't they communicate? How can they contradict eachother like that? And no I didn't read the whole thread, I just commented based on what shishka and lukems said.

 •
Posted by: XxCubanLegendxX So basically, you guys are saying that boosting (even though cheating in ranked games) isn't cheating on unranked games? Ok, see it this way, if I mod in an unranked game, is it cheating? If I stand by instead, it is cheating? Cheating is cheating no matter where you do it.
I see what you're trying to say, but those forms of cheating that you mentioned are cheating for reasons different from boosting. They are cheating because they manipulate Networking or the game itself. Boosting doesn't go under either of those catagories, thus the grey area.

He also said that "language boosting" which is used to boost ranked skill levels, IS against the rules. So really Shishka, nice contradiction there. Overall, listen to the guy with his fingers on the button.

 • I'd like to reinforce that I am not trying to suggest that boosting isn't cheating. I simply want a clear answer to which there is no question regarding its validity. This is aimed to give forum members a clear answer, and to ensure that threads on this topic in the future are met with a unified answer.

 • Yes, Boosting is illegal in the United States at least. People convicted of Halo 3 boosting can be punished by a minimum of 30 years in prison up to execution. That's right, they brought back the death penalty just for boosters.

 •
Posted by: roman arrow12 But that does give you the right to report someone for cheating, which is one of the only ways boosters will get banned.
Exactly right. Let us remember that the same could be said for the BX_ glitches in Halo 2. They were technically cheating, and peopel could get banned if enough people left feed back. •
Posted by: ithoughtshewas18 double xp boosting is not cheating.
Bungie disagrees. Also, Shishka has made clear that EXP boosting and Skill boosting are both cheating, is there any other type that I don't know about to debate over? There is no debate. Boosting = Cheating. •
Posted by: MLG Hooker
Posted by: SS_Zag1 This is the Law. End of story.
Nothing in that Banhammer story or whatever said boosting is against the law or being illegal. So you just wasted your time Mr. Mythic. And plus, boosting is called CHEATING, not ILLEGAL. And besides, it happens everyday! Bungie cannot stop it! It's impossible, well it's because they're lazy as fu_ck of course.
Don't be daft. This OP is talking about whether or not it's allowed. The terminology he used is hardly something to stop me on, I linked you guys to the page where it clearly states boosting is cheating, regardless of what Luke may have said quite some time ago. Also, you continue to bypass the cuss filter. Stop being a moron. If I didn't know any better (which I actually don't), I'd say you guys were cheaters/boosters, the way you defend it so. You two are advocating cheating. You should cut that out. [Edited on 06.22.2008 5:09 PM PDT]
