Is Boosting illegal???
i want a final say from a bungie worker
because, i see kids say it is all the time and others say not
So to whichever bungie worker is willing to answer this, Is it illegal or not?
and if youre gonna try to offend me, dont bother becuase i care less of the haterz.
I dont care what you think if you are about to flame me.

Well thank you guys i dunno what all of you are arguing about, but im beginning to think you all posted just because shishka posted, but thats just me and yes, im trying to get even more posts out of this by this last reply, HA HA HA and i get it now, enough Private Messages, im not gonna answer any of them I know its cheating and i havent done it in a while. I said "nice contradiction." Its really nice when two Bungie employees contradict eachother, especially on something like this where people's accounts are on the line, where they may be banned. Lukems said its not against the rules, so when shishka says it is, it just makes me think: Don't they communicate? How can they contradict eachother like that? And no I didn't read the whole thread, I just commented based on what shishka and lukems said.

[/quote] I see what you're trying to say, but those forms of cheating that you mentioned are cheating for reasons different from boosting. They are cheating because they manipulate Networking or the game itself. Boosting doesn't go under either of those catagories, thus the grey area.

I'd like to reinforce that I am not trying to suggest that boosting isn't cheating. I simply want a clear answer to which there is no question regarding its validity. This is aimed to give forum members a clear answer, and to ensure that threads on this topic in the future are met with a unified answer.

So basically, you guys are saying that boosting (even though cheating in ranked games) isn't cheating on unranked games? Ok, see it this way, if I mod in an unranked game, is it cheating? If I stand by instead, it is cheating? Cheating is cheating no matter where you do it.

Yes, Boosting is illegal in the United States at least. People convicted of Halo 3 boosting can be punished by a minimum of 30 years in prison up to execution. That's right, they brought back the death penalty just for boosters.

Let us remember that the same could be said for the BX_ glitches in Halo 2. They were technically cheating, and peopel could get banned if enough people left feed back. double xp boosting is not cheating. however manipulating the matchmaking system to play your buddies then quitting is. negative exp boosting is cheating.

It is vague because it doesn't specify what constitutes boosting, just that it's bannable. I can call a lot of things boosting if I want to and be [i]technically[/i] correct, doesn't make it bannable, though
