Yea. The grimiore is just a halfcocked attempt to replace the original story that got hacked. I'm sure the reason they made it so vague, cryptic, and mysterious, was just to keep the waters muddied. They knew that without the original story, this game has more plot holes than a tabloid magazine. So I do believe you are giving bungie far too much credit.
