I know that forming a group for raids within the game itself leaves a lot to be desired. Sites like destinylfg.com have helped fill the gap, but it still does not have the immediacy of finding groups in game.
I am looking to propose a compromise, determined by us the gamers.
Much like vendors have dedicated spots in the tower, the LFG group could have a spot as well.
We could all decide on a location in the Tower. And when someone is simply sitting (or dancing) in that spot it means they are open to joining a group for a raid. This way we dont have to randomly send messages or make posts on destinylfg, but simply message the people in the right area.
What does everyone think of this? And if you are all down, what spot would be best?
Edit 1: Areas suggested so far - balcony above Eris, the tree, the hanger lounge
Edit 2: many are pointing out that only 16 guardians appear in the tower at once. Yes this is true and most times won't be enough to get you a raid group instantly.
This idea was presented to work WITH the current methods like destinylfg, in order to further cut down on the time forming raids. It's not going to be a solution to replace it. But from personal experience I have formed a group in the tower so I know it would definite help.

The balcony above Eris, would be the best spot. And for the love of crota put your Mic on open chat. That way recruiters can ask what raids you want to do.

So many people have posted this before. On the LFG websites you have thousands of people to choose from. In the tower you have AT MOST 15. I like my odds better on the websites.

Edited by Autumn Hunter: 12/29/2014 1:53:21 PMThere are what, fifteen other players in the tower at a time? You could be there for hours putting together a team that way. So dumb.

Or they could just add raid matchmaking!

Have a vender that interacted with other tower groups

Terrible idea considering only 16 players max at the tower. You'll be waiting a while for a full raid group
-
Lets just say on top of the postmaster! Clearly via able to everyone as soon as you spawn in! So everyone looking for a raid go on top of the postmasters office and let's get this trending!

Edited by Cloudviool: 12/29/2014 12:46:16 PMI disagree. We don't want workarounds, but a solution. Just add matchmaking!

Hangar is definitely a cooler spot to hangout. But the tree would probably be easiest

Awesome idea. Posting for the bump

In the hangar there is a "bar" underground in the back. I would say this spot would be the best seeing as no one really goes to the hangar unless xur is there.

I love the idea. With good word of mouth and eager participation this could work. It would be best applied by friends in party chat all going to different towers to find a group since the tower is limited to like 16 people I think. Also instead of the suggested off the beaten path, I would prefer/suggest to make it somewhere visible from spawn point and in the main area for vault purposes and what not. Maybe the balcony above Eris. Some people jack around up there from time to time but not too much and it's easy to spot people up there. But this would make it easy to pop into the tower check the lfg area and then return to orbit to check a different tower. The tower limit is the biggest obstacle I see with the plan overall and this would be a decent work around. Sorry for the length of message but I do like this idea as you would be able to inspect people before you invite them.

The tree

The lounge in the hangar... Seriously... Waste of space otherwise...

Love it.
