Ascendant anything isn't really of use to high level guardians. Crota raid armor doesn't require ascendant materials, but it requires radiant materials. If you don't have any Crota gear than I can see how you are upset but if you have a full set like me it's not something to worry about unless you are planning on making another character and then you could put then ascendant materials in your vault and use them for that character.
