Was reading the Traveler Grimoire card when I realized; oh that's right, this thing actually exists in the game. Anyone else forgotten the existence of the Traveler due to its complete and utter lack of real mention and partaking in the story?
edit: 100 likes, milestone achieved! At this rate we can make the.... that... you know the thing in the sky.... you know what I'm talking about. We'll soon make "that" thing known once more!

Honestly, I completely forgot about the Traveler.
-
Maybe they have the cabal break into the traveler and we'll get to go inside for the cabal raid
-
I was actually sitting at the tower looking out at the city and wondering how people could not feel terrified there was a giant orb thin floating just above there heads (I assume it's in orbit, but it looks like its floating just above the skyline).

Lol scrolling through the forums, saw this and did a double take "HOLY SHIT! The traveler, I forgot about that guy"
-
what's a traveler?

RNGesus is the only true God.

Well, way I see it... the Traveler likely isn't as good as "we" (guardians and humanity) think it to be. I'll wager he's actually our ultimate enemy. Making the explanatory reasons for my logic below a spoiler, so read at your own discretion:
In the Grimoire, there are references to Hive Wizards speaking to a Warlock saying that "we are exactly alike". Another references guardians as having only been created so as to kill/destroy (stifle light). Many guardians (in the lore of the Grimoire) have "given up their light" after learning "the truth" about certain things (never directly mentioning the traveler). So, yeah, my conclusion: The Traveler is pretty much a Trojan Horse who came bearing technological advancements for our betterment initially, but is likely here to siphon our planet dry and then move on. Cabal aren't truly evil, they're planet-hopping since something destroyed their home-world and pursues them to whatever planet they go to. Vex are "terminators" sending themselves into the past to change their future. Fallen are interplanetary scavengers, but might have resorted to scavenging to survive after something tried destroying them (speculation, yet to fully unlock grimoire)? Now, it's just a hunch, but since they all seem motivated enough to hold a grudge against the Traveler, I'm willing to wager that the Traveler's responsible for most of their troubles.
Forgotten? No, I haven't forgotten about the Traveller, having said that, I was kind of hoping 'it' would play a bigger role in Destiny's story.as it is, it is almost never, ever talked about and when it is most of what is said us forgettable.

Lol ya

actually i have only heard the speaker mention him once. something like 'we are besieged by the darkness and he still shows no sign of waking. there is nothing." and i think i heard zavala say something similar except more like "the traveler must wake up. (dammit). wake up, we need you!" both were just in one voiceover among many. many more that i sat through listening. the vids are on my youtube channel if you are really incredibly bored sometimes.

This thread is funny, but I agree. There should be more direct interactions with the traveler, there should be a background story for each playable race so that we understand where everyone came from and why Exo's have hot bodies with robot faces, and why the Awoken have magic but can't properly superman, and how the #%!! a human double and triple jump...

The what?
-
I met a hunter once and he told me he had travelled from Earth to the moon to Venus and to Mars. Is he the traveller you are talking about?
-
Is that the robot who sweeps?
-
What's the traveler?
-
I never thought about it even playing the story. It's a mini planet hovering over a city. Seems a bit dangerous.

Edited by Barbatos: 12/22/2014 9:40:57 PMI was in the Tower turning in bounties the other day, took a moment to look out at the city and thought, "Wow that's a big moon". A moment later and I remembered it was the Traveler. Completely forgot the damn thing even existed LOL.

how could you forget everytime ur at the tower you see the traveller... so stupidity is not always best?

Anyone else think he needs to be renamed. I'm not sure exactly how many years ago he showed up but it seems he has been pretty damn stationary for quite awhile.
