Hunters need a buff for PVE. Are we truly a high DPS class? We need some answers.

And hunters are kinda the weakest at that at times and sometimes the best (with a proper invisibility). I just want some team synergy for hunters for us to make more of team impact in Hard Mode raids.[/b] Points that have been discussed: THESE ARE ALL PERTAINING TO PVE -Golden Gun needs some adjustments in PVE, maybe a higher damage boost or the addition of being able to land precision shots with it -Blade Dancer is lacking in the orb production department and is also very hard to use in certain situation such as the nightfall or any mission with lightswitch on - Hunters are the only class that doesnt, by default, have additional elemental damage attached to our melee abilities.   • Great thread! I really enjoyed reading all the posts. Even the ones that disagree. I admit, I'm nothing special at this game. I play because it's fun and I play exclusively as a hunter because they just seem cooler to me. However, I have to agree that the fact the GG can't do precision damage doesn't make any since to me. Having to use multiple GG shots to take down Mid level bad guy is silly. Using up an entire super on one mid level guy sux. If they don't want to give precision damage then I would be nice if the GG became a timed buff like the arc blade. And why does the new arachnid helm let you zoom. That's about as useful as a knitted condom.

  • Golden gun does need precision damage. But bladedancer is working as intended (in terms of a super). Maybe a buff to orbs and an ability in the class that allows each melee hit to grant extra damage would be in order. As to the synergy ideas, hunters are kinda supposed to be a lone wolf class, so their abilities fit this.

    • I always felt like hunters shudda been high attack/speed low def type of character. But agility is [i]still[/i] lacking in its role in the game imo. And trying to BD a major/ultra is certain death. I miss the way razors edge wudda been back in old vids of showing off the classes b4 the games release lol all in all in pve hunters are lackluster imo

    • I'm sorry but no hunters don't need buffs, I play as one and let me tell you I kick so much ass with mine. The over shield we get, the blade dancer that can kill everyone in sight, and the golden gun that melts flesh into thin air with one shot. They can be invisible and melee faster than any class. They are fine the way they are. More like a little nerfed if you ask me.

      • Actually i think that the throwing knife instead of having trippy DoT should be able to have an ability to draw mobs towards the place where the knife strikes in a large radius like a decoy hunter sort of thing or just allow for a second gernade type. The GoldenGun needs precision damage along with no expiration timer. I dont know maybe we can have an ability to stun mobs for a certain duration of time with. You know be more tactically usefull to ourselves and others.

        I only play as a Hunter. Always have played one, since the beta. Primarily a Gunslinger, but Bladedancer is not neglected. These are somethings I have noticed by playing as a Hunter most of the time. 1. Golden Gun is almost virtually useless when you reach higher levels. Sure, I can take out a Goblin at higher levels, but a Minotuar? Nope. 2-3 shots. It can't even crit! Now compare that to Fist of Havok and Nova Bomb, who can both take out elites in one hit. These supers also have multiple effects that can be used, while GG gets a throwing knife to extend, explosive damage, and over penetration. Two of those should already be apart of Golden Gun. I'm not exactly sure what could even this out, but I'm sure there is a couple folks out there with fine ideas. 2. Our grenades suck. Particularly the Gunslinger's nades. The solar grenade won't even kill someone in PvP if they are at full health. Trip-mine grenade is pretty cool, I think it's fine. Solar, ans Swarm need a buff. Bladedancer grenades are also weak when compared to the other two classes. Simple fix, just beef up the damage 3. Hunter melee for both classes are terrible. Titan and Warlock melee both, have and can OHK in PvP. I can get a headshot with a throwing knife, half health. Maybe a little less. Same with Blink Strike. They are not powerful enough. Why doesn't the Hunter melee get an element like other classes? I have to waste a perk to add solar damage and DoT to my throwing knife (still useless). I don't think BS has any arc damage, perk or otherwise. Hunters are obviously meant to be a harder hitting, fast DPS class. We sacrifice more than the other two classes but for what? A Warlock can hit our speed easy, and probably still have better Regen and Armor. Titans can get up there in Agility also. With no sacrifice to armor. Not only do Hunters give up Armor and Regen, we give up any team buffs. Which would be fine...except we are not getting our DPS in return (as with all MMO games. The pure DPS class loses out in defense and most team buffing, but in return deal damage so fast that it makes up for it.) My thought on this? The Hunter class needs slight tweaks across the board, to even be at the level as Titans and Warlocks. Then a decision needs to be made. Is the Hunter a real DPS class? If so, then they need to be treated as such with something. Damage buff, a perk... something. If not then we need a team buff. We have to have one. As of right now, most play or picked Hunter solely on a few things... they liked the look, liked the idea (scouts beyond the wall..etc) or liked Bladedancer an awful lot. We are irrelevant when it comes to multiple things compared to the other classes. To say otherwise means you're probably sick of Bladedancers in the Crucible. Either way, I'll be playing my Hunter. Hopefully something gets done. And to clarify, no. I don't care to have a team buff. If that were to come then so be it. But I do want is for the Hunter to be the class it is meant to be. Bungie can say they don't want anyone class to be pure DPS but when you look at the basics of The Hunter you can tell what they had in mind. Hunters need to be more damage orientated than they already are. As of now we are just the class that's meant to deal damage, but got stiffed halfway through development.

        • Too bad it doesn't matter if we are high dps or not. I think we do plenty of dps but it'll never matter since people want to cheat through the funnest parts of the game because they are greedy.

        • I think in PvE and PvP, Hunters are pretty solid, although they are way to OP in PvP, that needs to be nerfed. The jump is not the best, plus I think both special buffs on Gunslinger are not that effective at all. One should be bonus damage for 3 precision shots, or if all 3 Golden Gun hits are precision kills, the should have a fourth/fifth shot (fifth if u have symboite perk). I prefer a Titan over Hunters in both.

        • i usually use the move that makes a wave on the ground in the night fall. not nearly as satisfying as slashing the crap out of something but it keeps you alive and everything away from you

        • It's all about the motion of the ocean. Hunters are faster than the other classes and therefore can get to groups of enemies quicker. It's not about maximum damage, it's maximum kills.

          • To me it doesn't feel like the hunter is a dps class. Both the hunter and warlock seem to have more damage potential. What the hunter is good at is cleaning up trash mobs, but if you're a fairly good shot you could do with your weapon. Ability wise, especially bladedancer, survivability seems to be the main strength. Hungering blade and or invisibility is really nice for helping you be a lone wolf of sorts so maybe that's their angle instead of dps.

          • I personally think the golden gun needs to be able to crit to actually be of use DPS wise, but honestly I think their third support class will play the support role.

              to be honest, i think hunters need a charged meele, like titans have shoulder charge. we should be allowed another slot where we could equip a sword or knife where when we charge at people/aliens we can deal one hit kill(pvp) and more damage(pve). Tired of the shoulder charges and energy drain meelees in the game. we go a knife that stabs you in the neck but its not a one hit kill. this sword could be a bit over powered but with a bit of tweaking using the community we can get it balanced
