It's not pronounced "Gal-ar-horn", it's a Scandinavian word and is pronounced "Yahl-lar-hawrn".
Gjallarhorn is Heimdall's Horn, used to warn the Gods of Ragnarok.
Overall Edit: It's amazing all the hate this post got. Colourful crowd and language used, as well as people both thanking and hating me for making this a PSA. Keep it trending, the more people that know what it's properly called, the better. People sound really ignorant when they're mispronouncing it like they are.
Think of it this way, as pointed out by a poster... we don't say 'F-jords', I hear everyone say 'Yords' when it comes to an actual Fjord. Why in any case would people really think it's pronounced Gallarhorn...
Our clan name is called Heimdallr just because we have the Gjallarhorn.

Screw the people who say it doesn't matter or who cares. They're just uneducated pricks. I'm always happy when someone corrects my pronunciation so I don't make a fool of myself. You've been saying it wrong. Suck it up and correct yourself.
Why am I an uneducated prick because I don't get bothered by people saying the name of a fictional weapon wrong? You're taking this way too seriously lol

I've been wondering for a while how it was pronounced. Thank you :)

Edited by Graelock: 12/22/2014 6:01:29 PMYes, it's like when people pronounce the name Johansson as "Jo-Hansson," instead of, "Yo-hansson." For instance, Scarlett Johansson, should be "Scarlett Yo-Hansson," a's it is a German last name. We can thank the invading French Normans for bringing the modern English "J" sound, as in "justice." Even today, it's one of the most infrequently used letters in English. I remember hearing a French instructor calling English "badly pronounced French," as we have fallen somewhere between French and Old English, although, it is possible to construct English sentences out of words derived purely from Old English, so it's not completely dead ;) Og så, takk for det min venn!
-
I enjoy calling it gajallahorn to upset people in my party
-
It's pronounced ballerhorn
-
I usually pronounce it "sarah michele gellerhorn", but if it's the weekend and I'm doing a drunk raid it's definitely the jaegerhorn. IMO these are the only 2 acceptable pronunciations, but unlike you I don't rage whenever I hear something different.

Education is always good. Stop pronouncing sh* wrong people! Stop it now, or throw your Gjallarhorns into the fjords!
-
It's a game, we will call it what We want. /thread

Prisoner 489! You're at it again!

I believe you mean "jellyhorn" because people you don't have it are jelly a f*ck :)

Well considering this weapon isnt heimdallr's horn itself, what makes me have to pronounce it like it is the horn?
