Huh, I hadn't thought about using my super to go invisible before grabbing the sword but that would save a lot of time since I've been trying to crouch (along with saving that for the second attack). I guess this might be a stupid question but has anyone tried dropping the sword and using the escape artist melee on Crota after the second attack? I just did my first run as a swordholder last night and got clipped a few times getting out. I wonder if it's quicker than trying to jump away. Basically you'd use all 3 methods of invisibility each run. Vanish, stalker and then escape artist to get out... Ironically all having perfect names.

  • This is how I do it. I posted a little txt about how to do it about a week ago.

  • i do it like this also but only if i dont have a super. I use the super for invis because it last longer and you wont using it for anything else really. If i dont have any orbs or no super i crouch invis, grab sword, after i hit him drop sword then knife invis. Works just as well.

  • Kill swordbearer. Grab sword. Hit left rock and crouch. As soon as u crouch tell team to dps crota. U then turn invisble and hop up to crota. Proceed to hit him 3-5 times( timing) as soon as he starts to stand drop sword and melee him to turn invisible. Pick up sword and wait for dps to take his shield down. It's the quickest was I've found. And is very effective.

  • My issue was the sword was disappearing during my 2nd attack which caused all kinds of problems. My teammates couldn't get enough dps in on Crota. Using a super and vanish would help me get up there quicker since I don't have to wait for the crouch invisibility and the melee would help if my sword disappears in the middle of an attack. Does anyone use weapons of light at all? Seems like a quick easy way to get a couple of orbs as the swordbearer and make a little extra damage per swing. I does give one person an extra job and maybe that's too much.

  • My team has the Titans pop an orb near where the sword bearer goes up to the ledge to get to crota. That way when the sword bearer approaches, he picks up orbs to charge the sword super.

  • Weapons of light does not alter damage with the sword, atleast in my testing. Also your team not doing enough dps is probably the issue of why the sword disappears. hopefully they have maxed weapons.

  • The sword should never disappear before your second set of attacks end. And crouching to turn invisible is quicker then activating your special and hitting r2 to do the animation to turn invisbke.

  • Sucks that Weapons of light doesn't work.... As far as using the crouch to disappear. It takes about 3 seconds to activate. I can super before the swordbearer goes down and vanish in less than a second. My team was struggling to bring down the swordbearer so I couldn't crouch before grabbing the sword. Hopefully we iron out the dps issue before my next run... I don't mind using my ghorn to get the job done and letting a warlock run it though. It goes smoother because the timing doesn't vary... Or maybe take a page from the solo raider and fire a rocket before running in the 2nd time?

  • Yep. On my hunter, I crouch to go invisible for the first attack, quickly drop the sword and blink strike him then pick the sword back up. Works like a charm.

  • My friend does that. He's a freaking good player though...

  • Yeah, I don't expect it to be easy to do at first. Just curious if it would make it a little easier to get that 4th strike + super in... I'll give it a try if my clan is willing to run again. Been burning a ton of heavy ammo trying to get several competent swordbearers.

  • i was using it after the first shield drop so i could stay in position and attack immediately after the second sheild drop, but i like the positioning on this video better, attacking him in the middle can get super sketchy, and being able to safely crouch for stealth on that middle tomb and save the melee for the escape sounds like a solid gameplan. will deff be implementing this strategy next week with my hunter, and will be suggesting it in raid group when im on my alts

  • Yeah, my group is set on running it from the middle. I argued at first (even when I wasn't the swordbearer - makes it easier on them)... But people just keep dying on those stairs. I'm going to suggest this too. I'll just need to make sure I have the jump down first. It took me about 15 minutes to get the middle jump down but I also have a warlock for my primary.

  • boomers are a big part of the challenge, someone must stay dedicated to dropping them before they get a shot off, preferably someone who doesn't miss. Ive never had success with the group in bottom middle chamber, and attacking crota while hes in center position, takes too long so he moves after the first shield break. this guys strategy capitalizes on timing and positioning. i dont think crota can chase the swordbearer since he drops off the side of the platform with that half wall between them. when hes in middle, if the sword doesn't dip soon enough he some times chases him off the upper platform and down into the pit, which is a wild and terrifying experience, especially when he aggros on the stairs after he catches the sword guy sometimes he just teleports to the position he should have been in if he had not chased the sword. anyway long story short, having crota isolated on the side platforms seems like a safer more consitant plan and i feel you on that jump trouble, after i switch to my warlock i usually fail at clutch jumps for a while till i get used to glide again.
