But weirdly, Exotics are now EASIER to upgrade the Legendary's because Exotic Shards can be bought. Ascendant Materials cannot even be traded (but tDB upgrade material can be). There is ZERO consistency.

Believe me, i was at the forefront of the controversy over the exotic changes. I made a whole thread here and on reddit explaining how there is no benefit to exchanging a fully upgraded exotic vs exchanging one you had just found. Most of the responses were people saying i was just bitching about needing materials again. I think there is an NPC that will exchange ascendant mats for each other on a 1:1 ratio,, you just need strange coins or motes, its in one of the patch notes.
