I wrote a piece about "The Direction of Destiny" a few days ago that generated some great responses including one from DeeJ. He knows the state of the community right now and I'd be shocked if he didn't address it in today's weekly update. This could be one of the most important updates we've seen thus far. I'll be eagerly awaiting it's arrival.

  • Yea I was all over that thread you created. It was really well written and mirrored many of my thoughts. You're right about this weeks update. It's a very important one. I've already gone on my destiny hiatus but I think if this update is more fluff and PR bullshit that a lot more players will follow me. They need to at least acknowledge that they have a plan in place to fix these issues

Thank you for your contributions then! I never thought it would have gotten the attention it did but I was grateful it stayed constructive, for the most part! Most of the community have a real passion for this game and they truly want it to be great. I refer to a quote from on of The Guardians of Destiny (check out there weekly podcast for great Destiny insight)....to summarize... "There are great games out on the market right now but every time I try and play one of them it feels like I'm cheating on Destiny." Hes right, I can't stop playing this game. I love the grind, I love how the next upgrade/weapon/armor could be right around the corner. But all positives aside this game could use some stabilization. Rewards that truly reward time and effort from die-hards as well as helping lower lvl players with good drops to make them better. And up until now, the dedicated feel a bit underwhelmed. In any event, I think the tone of we, the Destiny Community, finally may have hit home with DeeJ and the guys over at Bungie this week.

  • It had to have hit home with Bungie this time around. This is the second round of bad/mediocre reviews for their game. They cannot afford to be hit with a third when the next "expansion" comes. They need to really start listening to what their community is telling them instead of just saying they are. There is nothing wrong with taking direct advice from the players. We are telling them exactly how to save Destiny and instead they keep saying "That all sounds good, but... We think we've come up with a better solution that you didn't ask for but we think you'll like anyway!" No, you haven't! Just implement some of our suggestions, damn it!

I totally agree. I'd imagine it to be pretty difficult, the relationship between developer, publisher and the community of fans. Activision are really the ones waving the magic pen over their checks to Bungie. They may have great ideas from us and want to be like, "ok guys we heard you, this is what we are doing to fix it." but then you have Activision saying, "That's cute Bungie, but how will we market it?" then Bungie and DeeJ come back saying, "We just railroaded our fans, now you want them to pay to fix our mistakes?!" I'm sure the Bungie boys and girls are in a tough spot. Side with the ones buying their product or side with the ones paying them for it? I can't imagine DeeJ sitting at his desk with a sinister scowl on his face doing the Mr. Burns finger twiddling thing and thinking to himself, "We got these geeky losers right where we want them. EXCELLENT!"

  • You're right. In that kind of business relationship, it's almost impossible for the community to know who's to blame. I'm sure DeeJ has a much clearer idea but he can't and won't comment on that if he values his job. It probably indeed is Activision who has a major fault in it. They are likely putting the pressure on Bungie to produce content and features that generate more money. I'm sure Bungie wishes they could focus more on strengthening and perfecting the foundation of the game but new money isn't made by making the game we already purchased better. It's sad because the more you think about it, the more you realize that it's not very feasible for them to fix the issues with this game significantly from a financial standpoint. This isn't a subscription based game like a typical MMO. They've already made the largest chunk of its revenue at release. It's more practical for them to make minor improvements that quell only the game-breaking complaints, ride Destiny out for as long as they can, try to make future DLC appealing enough to make additional money, and start fresh with Destiny 2. The best we can hope from our criticisms of the core game is that Destiny 2 turns out to be the game we wanted this one to be. They will probably address the current issue with gear/weapons and player progression but as far as story, content, and the core nature of the game, that ship has probably already sailed as soon as this title went Gold.

  • Ya the recent changes pushed me over my limit despite my Destiny addiction. I still feel the pull to play but every day I'm away from it it gets less and less. The addictive nature of the game is just not worth the frustration and negative feelings I get surrounding the whole experience. I don't know how much longer the hardcore players will take it. I know I reached my breaking point once id gone through all the dlc content
