Such a pointless post. Who cares. Not every one is a gun nut. Let them call it what they want. It's a Damn game for crying out loud. If you have time to complain about this....

  • Me and my friends no the difference. And whatever you say in the heat of the moment is fine. Because everyone on the time got the jist of what you were saying.

  • If this bothers you that badly then I just don't get it. I served my country. I know the difference. I just don't care what people call it. It's a pointless debate. Lol

  • Play a racing game, go to a race, drive a care - educated folks expect wheels and tires to be properly used, and they expect transmission and engine to be used correctly as well. Play a shooting game, go to the range, serve in the field - educated folks expect magazine and clip to be properly used. Talk to a financial adviser and he will know the difference between Capital and Capitol. The head of your school knows the difference between Principle and Principal. Ever heard someone say, "For all intensive purposes" or "Vice-a versa?" The terms are "For all intents and purposes" and "vice versa." Humanity, as a group, doesn't have to dumb down, because some do not care.... to the contrary, those who stand up for what is right, move us forward. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean those that are educated on the topic and/or do care are simple or narrow minded or should not endeavor to educate. Many do not know and are a product of pop-culture's ignorance on the topic. Given the opportunity to speak correctly, not like a gangster, many prefer to use correct vernacular and choose to communicate effectively and efficiently. Those who don't care about the proper use of terms, especially in context of a genre of game or hobby they frequent where the focus is of a particular industry or vertical market, have that right and prerogative... however, do not assume your lack of appreciation for why some have a motive to correct and educate on this topic is reason enough for us cease or that the topic is pointless... you are incorrect and are showing your lack of wisdom. Knowledge is Power.

  • And just fyi....I never stated that anyone was "simple or narrow minded." So please don't jump to conclusions on what I mean in my statements. My point is simple. It's a game. Not a profession. And people do not need to be corrected on every little thing. I don't call it either, I simply state I need ammo. Who really cares. Let people play and call it what they want. People need to find other things to do in life rather than criticize everyone else. We all come from different places in life. Deal with it. Just because people don't ask see things your way doesn't mean they need corrected.

  • I didn't say you did call anyone simple or narrow minded. You did say it was a pointless debate. Saying something is pointless implies you have all perspectives understood and are thus dismissing the rest of our concerns as trivial and simple... we are not simple. Our concerns are not trival. We are not acting from a narrow minded perspective. Just because you do not understand the motive, doesn't mean we many who are responding to the author are incorrect. If I called your significant other or mother the name of a female dog, you would be insulted. As you should, It's grammar used it poorly. (and I wouldn't btw, just an example.) If I said hey, throw me some sticks, or meet me at playwright... when fighting Crota, you would be like "WTF is he talking about?" I would have failed to communicate. If during the darkness zone Raid, I said everyone gonna hit a pole, trot then Zig, do some Zag, now scat onto some shimmer and saunter about the Bizangers so we can fleet and scurry scamp a bit avoiding boom-shockers, so we can skizzle through the hilltop and profit. Okay? Chances are you would be like, "WTF?" I didn't communicate at all. Now maybe if we gamed regularly, you would know what the hell I just said... but chances are, you didn't follow. On the other hand if I said if I gave clear instruction using words like Right, left, run and light, exploding thralls and light pillars that explode on timers... you might actually have a chance to understand WTH I just said. Fact: The more intellectual / educated a society or group is, the less tolerance we have for ignorance and slang. The more ignorant we are on a topic, the more we use words like "Things" and "stuff". There is a general expectation for people to communicate with accurate terms, especially in industry specific genres. For those of us in the know, A Round is not a case. A shell is not a bullet. A magazine is not a clip. A cylinder is not a magazine. A wheel is not a tire. etc. We are simply trying to level the rest of you up. You make us cringe, like nails on a chalk board, when you call a magazine a clip... or rounds bullets... it's okay, but just know, we think less of each and every one of you, when we hear you. The author is trying to educate, and I applaud him for it... whether you agree or not. PS - I too served. Nuc Power. US Navy I thank you for your service, Sir.

  • That is the longest response post to something so trivial....ever. I only read about half. Most of your analogies are pointless in the matter. If I am feeling with a professional, yes, I expect them to be educated and speak correctly. This is a game. I can't believe that this bothers people so badly....lol....get a life

  • I think there is a lag and these post are coming at odd times causing this to be misconstrued. I, like you, served my country proudly. I traveled the world to my fill with USN Corpman and Devil Dogs. I am 38 years old. I have two teenage children and a wife. I go to school full time as well seeking my BS in business. I work a 50-60 hour a week job in management. The list can go on. But I post this to make the point we are not so different. I do not dismiss people's points if view as trivial or simple. I am simply saying that this is a trivial issue. Not that anyone is trivial or any point they make. We all come from different backgrounds, experience and age groups. Everyone sees things from a different point of view. But I'm the end this us a game. I really don't see why it would bother people so much if someone says "clip" or "mag". We all know what they mean. I think making this a big deal is rather anal. But maybe it's just me. I'm entitled to my pov just like the next.

  • Exactly. I say "clip" just because. No particular reason, just rolls off the tongue better than "magazine".

  • Try "Mag". And it doesn't mean you're a gun nut to know the right terminology. Just like you wouldn't call a hammer a chair, right? I wouldn't expect people to know as much about firearms as I do, or some of the other people out there, but knowing that you load your weapon with a mag is fairly easy, especially when the perks are called "Extended Magazine" kinda tell you outright what it's called.

  • Actually, I am sure there is a chair out there, somewhere, that looks like a hammer.
