If 3,000,000 people own the game and 10,000 complain about it non-stop, is the game headed for doom?

its probally greater than that, seeing as everywhere i go on the net, people are shitting on destiny, in like a at least 8 negative posts for every postive.
-
i can back that statement. I followed a Destiny and a Destiny group on facebook and because of that I get Destiny articles popping up on my news feed. Its now become a fun game of opening the comments to see how bad people are ripping the game to pieces. its usually 200+ posts of people calling the game bullshit. ha, there was a link I think Bungie posted yesterday about how they won some aware from a gaming site nobody knows about. nearly everyone was accusing activision and bungie of buying their award.
-
Are those real numbers, or are you just making them up to validate your assertintion?
-
Only Bungie (Activision) knows the real numbers. Pretty sure they're aware if the time logged in per player is down. I'm also of the camp that most don't log into the forums. Time will tell, but according to most media, Bungie has a steep hill to climb.

Most analysts (not video game journalists) put sales near 7 million units. Activision has never stated a sales number, even during an earnings call. I used less than half that number. Judging by the comments in these forums, there are usually around 500 comments in the "this game sucks/why I'm quitting" posts. Assuming 5% of people with that opinion post comments at any given time, 10000 haters seemed like a reasonable guess.
-
Activision didn't release the numbers for a reason. They may have sold 7 million but what I would really love to see are the trad-in rates after release. Bungie was really big on touting numbers the first couple of weeks about play time.... you don't really hear any good news any more.

Yet, neither you or I know what every player thinks. You're simply assuming that 10000 people don't like Destiny. It could be a lot more or a lot less. The only tangeble indicator of anything is the ratio between like and dislike comments on the forum. Let's cut the figure down and say that 100000 people fall into one camp or the other. Do you really think 90% of players like Destiny, while only 10% don't? Do the likes outwiegh the dislikes 10 to 1 in the forums?

Agreed

Most people who play the game aren't in the forums. The only way to actually figure out if the game is doing well is compare time played on average per sale and the sale of the Dark Below compared to the base game sales. It's either doing just as well, better, or worse. Using a forum or reviews as a metric is poor at best.
