A couple days until Xmas and the apocalypse of new testicles running around the tower, scrub a dub dubbing the crucible, and ruining raids. Don't worry though... They'll be able to instantly buy lvl 31 gear after reaching lvl 20 and blend in with even the most seasoned of guardians saying "don't worry i've done this before". 500+ hours put in? Forget that. They'll put in about 20 and be right on par with you! Hooray for first world problems! So glad I dedicated all this time to "become legend" when the 12 year old across the street will get the game and instantly be on my lvl!
Edit 1: Wow! Thanks for the concern guardians!
If you didn't like this. Lick my buttery taint because I just wasted 1 minute of your life. MWAHAHA

I'll pass on your offer, but I will counter with opinions. 1. They still have to grind the marks. 100/week, 200 max. So the Xmas n00b will have to immediately jump into crucible and playlists to get those marks by 20. 2. They will have to level and shard that gear. That's not something that's going to happen in a day or two. Your definition of "instantly" is slightly off. 3. There are no real instructions for this game. We've all had to figure it out. How many "12 year olds" are going to spend the time reading up on Destiny instead of playing other games that have a smaller learning curve? 4. When they enter the crucible, feast upon them! 5. Be kind to a noob during strikes. If they are a putz, then just exit the event. Pay it forward (I mean, it's the holidays, right?). 6. It's just a game, not a way of life, even if it is an investment game. If the game upsets you, don't play. Don't post. Shrink the Bungie community. Ultimately that will be the tell. They've already made a ton of money (they, activision, whoever) so that's not the issues. They need players who want to play and buy. Just stop supporting it completely. Sure, leave that last bubble on that exotic unfilled...I'm sure that won't drive you nuts...

CAn't wait for the next version of IB. Death to all the noobs!

Why would you butter you taint?

Edited by SOB BADD0GGIE: 12/18/2014 12:50:44 PMSo they'll be level 31? So what? They'll get there in 20 hours? So what? Are they going to have the wealth of weapons, gear, and in game knowledge of someone that has played for 500+ hours? Hell no. Destroy them with your legendaries and exotics. They'll just be running the Stranger's Rifle and Murmur. Curb-stomp them in the Crucible. They'll just be wandering around in circles trying to figure out what to do. Embarrass them in the VoG and in CE, since they won't have a clue how to beat Atheon or Crota. Just because someone that got the game yesterday and can get to the same level as you, doesn't mean that they caught up. And don't forget, they have to get commendations to get 31 gear which mean rank 3. They have to get coins to get exotics. They have to save up marks to buy the legendaries. They won't be able to run the Nightfalls and Heriocs fresh out of the box. Their "catch up" time is going to be longer than you think.

Edited by OffBillet: 12/18/2014 4:18:18 PMQuit being so selfish. We need a Guardian Big Brother Bounty. Take a noob, at least 5 levels below you on a fireteam for any Story mission or Strike and you get Extra Rep. Actually I do this quite often with friends who just got the game or even who are starting a new character. I just focus on bounties while running with them. I let them get the kills and only help with shields on bosses or with mobs. Show them the Golden Chests and Dead Ghosts while you are at it. Teach them to dance, point, sit. Show them how to dance on their Sparrow. Show them around the Tower and explain leveling up and choosing gear. Use of Marks, Glimmer, Strange Coins, Motes of Light, and Factions. Explain the use of Consumables. All things I had to learn the hard way in the first week of the release. Warn them not to buy Ships they will drop. Explain that they will get Sparrow's for the DLC or Raid and not to waste Marks. I have gotten Legendary and even Exotic engrams while doing this. And I always show them the hidden vendor, just walk out on the ship landing platform, Look down into town, and jump. It never gets old.

Edited by Camisto: 12/18/2014 4:30:52 PMActually they would have to get rank 3 with vendors before they can reach 31. And they will be lacking shards, remember they didn't run vog for months like us and don't have shards stacked at 200. I give the Christmas noobs a month before they reach 30 and those are the good noobs.

and they'll probably get the ghallarhorn/hawkmoon before me LOL

Why is your taint buttery?
-
Buttery taint!!!!
-
You know, there is another way to gauge a player's dedication/skill level in the game. It's called a Grimoire score...
-
Yeah and the games on sale at target for 40 bucks, huge influx of high schoolers getting it for christmas yayyyy...... Sarcasm.
-
Yeah they should of never made it possible to buy lvl 31 gear! I like the change in appearance from the old gear, but! The point of an mmo is to lvl up and move on to the next big challenge! So they should of kept vendor gear at the same light level as before so that you would need to run the raid in order to get to 30 (which is the recommended level for crota!) then you take Crotas gear and get to 32 for the next raid! Not hard bungie, it's how almost all mmo work
-
It's almost like you're an elitist, no wait it's exactly like that. Take your elitist douchebaggery elsewhere.
-
It's so true! Sadly, Bungie's business model is to cater for all gamers, not the hardcore ones, people would be put off buying a game 3 months after release to find out that they would need to invest 100+ to be on par with most of the current community.

From Reddit... :)

They will never understand the Vault of Glass

Noobs: Coming to a tower near you! Starting Christmas Day!

I think the only way to have access to that new vanguard armour is to beat the VOG on hard. That would make it to where the people would have to level up high enough to do the raid. I think that should also apply for when the next expansion comes out and the new raid begins. This would make it as difficult for the new player as it was for us when we first started. I have yet to beat the VOG on hard because I never have a team that works together and I have new boots but if Bungie implemented this rule to the game I would, without a doubt give up my boots and level and try to unlock them.
-
Oh boohoo. I just had a level 12 invite me to his fireteam and I have helped him through a chunck of the story missions. It was fun, you know, being friendly and helpful. Maybe thats the problem, people seem to want to have the red carpet rolled out for them so that everyone knows just what a special snowflake they are. Maybe we could all just show a little Christmas spirit to the noobs and help them out. Pass the baton on as it were. I think they call it community spirit.

The "12 year old across the street" will need 345 marks and 9000 reputation two Vanguard or Crucible commendations to buy a full set of L31 gear in the Tower. That works out to three weeks of really steady, reliable grinding to get there. Of course you can replace one of those pieces with an exotic piece, probably purchased from Xur at a cost of 13 Strange Coins--which, because the weekly strike got bumped up in difficulty, still takes about three weeks to get. And then, of course, you need 54 ascendant shards and an exotic shard to max out all that armor, which isn't a breeze. So yeah, it'll only take about 50 hours for our hypothetical tween to acquire a set of legendary armor, and an unknown but fairly large amount of time to get that legendary armor to its full potential Light level. What, exactly, am I supposed to be objecting to?

Brace yourselves....500% more warlocks are coming

@op: Because Destiny is hard...
-
As long as they post in the right forum sections I'm fine.
-
No they are not. Nobody with a brain will buy this game. Hence the $30 sale before Christmas. Destiny will see the lowest player spike of any game this holiday.
-
They won't be able to immediately, they will still have to raise the marks and the rep to get to level 3. They won't be able to just get to 31 right away, they will run out of marks and have to build their marks back up again for more gear. Then they will have to use marks to get the materials and then either run the daily lots or do the vault a lot to get to 30 and 31. This won't be a walk in the park for brand new people. Unlike regulars it would take a lot of work to get to 31
