Went through many different groups on Xbox One yesterday as I play sword holder and need a good group to provide sufficient support. Got into one group where ONE guy had a gjallarhorn and ONE guy had an ice breaker...one was a lvl 29 and one was a 30 and the rest were 31's with ass guns not upgraded. It was obvious that someone had given them the checkpoint as they were clueless as all hell. Those -"Holy crap dude these are like, lvl 32 enemies!"- type of people. I gave them a chance but after a few runs it was obvious they did not have enough firepower to complete the mission. They couldn't even kill the oversoul if one person died, let alone drop Crota twice. Please just hold off until you're ready...no need to waste the time of people who actually come prepared.
Edit: Some people are misunderstanding my icebreaker/gjallarhorn remark. I am not at all saying that an icebreaker or Gjallarhorn are required to beat the raid. Just that the 2 lowest levels were the only ones who had guns worth while while the 31's had ass guns that they hadn't bothered to upgrade. A raid full of people too lazy to grind gear to make them fully capable. If you don't have an icebreaker/gjallarhorn you should at least have something to bring to the table that can keep up with it and make a contribution to your team, not a weight on their shoulders.

Says the guy who doesn't have a single upgraded gun.
-
Ive done it with a 27.
-
I hear ya.....show some pride people.....level ur guns

Crota is not too bad. I waited till I was 31. I had maxed weapons and saved a bunch of time with some timely self res on early parts. Over all an enjoyable experience. I think 30 is the minimum I would go with. It's so easy to get to 31 though. I was 31 as soon as xur came. Having all 31s really not hard. We had one guy who had run crota a few times already and was just an amazing teacher. All of us had seen vids on the raid. Advice. Max your level and your weapons. It doesn't matter if you don't have icebreaker of Gjallahorn but just prepare right. Watch videos so you know what to expect. They don't come close to actually doing it but are a whole heck of a lot better than going in blind. Do you due diligence and you will be rewarded and not frustrated. 4 31s and 2 30s and we did it in just over an hour.

I agree with two points of your post. 1. A group for crota should contain all lvl 30 players and above. The damage drop from 30 to 29 is just too much. 2. Weapons should be at or near max upgrade, with a few exceptions like icebreaker, and some of the new 302 exotics. Where I disagree. Everyone should have a chance at the raid. If it's someone's first time in there things can be confusing (though not nearly as confusing as running VOG for the first time). Players who understand the fights should be explaining the mechanics and roles each team member needs to fill. Then these new players need to experience the mechanics first hand a few times to completely understand them. Wipes should be expected. Now if you have a player that just can't understand what needs to be done, or after 45 minutes of wipes asks what needs to be done. Go ahead and kick them. Though before you do, give them a warning, explain why you want to replace them, and tell them to go watch some kill videos on YouTube. Bottom line, don't be a douche. We have enough of those in this game that try and demand everything for nothing.

" I know m only lvl 27 but if you guys carry me I'll show you how to cheese everything."- quote from a player that joined my last raid lobby
-
It truly is anoying. In this day and age everyone should know what to do before they do it. Watch a YouTube video of the raid there's plenty. That's what I did.
-
You don't need ib or ghorn lol. They help but are not at all necessary
-
Dude if you were on PS4 we could totally team up as i went thru the EXACT SAME THING last night, trying to find a group to kill Crota.
-
You don't need ghorn for crota...honestly you don't even need to use a heavy...
-
There's a way to test raid virgins that have no concept of game mechanics... Take them to vault of glass and watch them fail one checkpoint after the other... If they can't listen to simple instructions and follow them then leave them... They'll be inexperience raid virgins for life lol... If they can beat the templar in one run then thats a pass for me
-
The new batch of 30s/31s that are @$$ in any raid. Idfwu
-
I'd give them one tip. Don't give the worst guy the sword.
-
Yea I was in the same boat everytime I went up I was only able to hit him for one down I ended up killing him right as he got Enraged.. One guy has the yolohorn but didn't even have Wolfpack on it...
-
Fair point, but why not add some tips for those people who don't know how to do it? I beat him for the first time last night, the first time I had tried the full raid. I was with a team of friends who had done it before. We beat Crota on the 4th attempt. Our first attempt was a learning experience (as any first attempt at anything SHOULD be if there is a guy who hasn't done it before in the team). By the third attempt i knew what to call out, when to call it out, when to shoot, and what i should be shooting at. We nearly had him, and on the 4th attempt we took him down with our smoothest run. All because the team took the time to explain what to do, and used one attempt to show me what to do. (I didn't use the sword).

Why are you playing with Randomers if you have a full clan? And why are you telling others what they should/shouldn't do in a video game. Grow up
-
I do agree with you. However, ice breaker and ghorn aren't a necessity. Yes I know they are great assets, but I have been so unfortunate as to not get either and I don't see it hindering our teams performance. I want the ice breaker more than any gun in the game and have for the longest just can't seem to get it. You have good points tho!
-
so people who've done the raid whats your opinion on Truth instead of Horn in the raid?
-
My maxed out Swarm with field scout works just as well as the Jake Gyllenhorn
-
I completely agree with you here.
-
How does one know how to be prepared unless they do the raid to find out what they're lacking? Such a narrow-minded post this is.
-
This is why hesitant to try CE. I can follow inscriptions but my weapons aren't all maxed
-
I get what you're saying, but as for the no IB or Ghorn, some people just missed it for Xur and have shit luck. I was stuck running P&T with Vengeance for Crota but I hold my own easily.

STOP being a bellend!!

We had 2 dudes with Gjallahorns and neither had synthesis. I have HoC and I must've burned through 15 synths because I was the only one getting his shield down. Wipefest. Left group. Joined different group. Everyone had synths and good guns. No 29s. Icebreakers! We had him down in under 5 minutes. I used 1 synth. Like the OP says: Come prepared for raids, noobs. Leveled armor and weapons and synths. If I'm ever leading a raid and I hear "I don't have any synthesis" that person is kicked. Period. Come prepared or piss off!

Edited by ssjubi4: 12/19/2014 4:57:53 PMOr they can all join me later and I'll help them all by cheesing Crota. I'm a pay it forward and help a lot of people this weekend to beat it. Xbox One.
