Trading CRUCIBLE MARKS for SPINMETAL?!

Whenever i consult with the Crucible Quartermaster to exchange my Spinmetal for Crucible Marks, I appear to be trading Crucible Marks for Spinmetal. I shunt my cursor to the selection of redundant materials garnered from the Game-World, highlighting, for example, "Spinmetal" and I select this option. Suddenly, my Crucible Marks move from "22/10" to "12/10" and I receive that message in the right hand side of the screen saying I have now acquired 20 Spinmetal. Now, this would be, I guess, perfectly all right, IF there was a practical use for Spinmetal-- OTHER THAN TRADING IT FOR CRUCIBLE MARKS. So, I am making a transaction for a virtually useless item. Why is this? Why is it this issue appears to be effecting no other user of the Destiny-Bungie game world? I would appreciate some clarification...

In a perfect world, you would be able to trade with/for materials either way. Marks for materials, and materials for marks AND more importantly REPUTATION XP. Farming materials and trading them in, in addition to regular patrols, and all around gameplay, was a massive boost to building reputation. It was a major contributing factor to my reaching rank 3 with all of the tower factions. (Thanks for the Legendary gear BTW) Without farming I probably wouldnt have done that. I dont mind some grinding, this is an RPG hybrid of sorts, but goddamn. LOL at ppl looking down on other ppl for farming. As if youre not out there grinding and doing patrols, while you camp and wait for public events. Haha. It would be a welcome sight to see materials trading for reputation back in the tower. Especially now with the Commendation system. As for me, ill keep my marks for buying new armor to break down, thank you very much. Happy Grinding. ( 31 is the new 29 )

  • What else would you use marks for??? I got 36 exotic two raid pieces and decent weapons marks are useless to me now other than using them for upgrade materials I have a couple legendary sparrows not the tumbler. Might buy the badger call but nothin else for sale interests me maybe the vanquisher v2!!! Crucible marks

You have to first consult the Headshrink-Quartermaster to get a Headshrink-commendation to be allowed to purchase Crucible marks in exchange for Materials. The Headshrink-Quartermaster will be only available in the Tower on every 29th February every 4 years.

Spinmetal is used for some weapons. To upgrade. For me almost all my shit takes helium filaments. I'd gladly trade marks for that.

Sorry but it is just funny as hell. They changed it as people were complaining that they need to farm materials so bungie introduced this option with TDB I guess or even earlier (don't remember exactly). They are not worthless as you need them to upgrade your gear and weapons.
