Again, just for a note, I personally know how to do it. No need for commenting and leaving tips. Thanks
This is a forum tear thread for just a warning.
I 'downloaded', if you would call it that, my content for the DLC Tuesday like most people. I woke up and was excited to check out what new stuff there was and even some stuff that we had never even heard before! But that was not the case. Bungie had shown us 100% of what was in the DLC before it had even came out. What's the point in buying this ULC? (unlockable content, because by no means did we download anything)
I still was not mad, and wanted to check out what new stuff there was. Of course I had to wait until Friday to do stuff like the Nightfall and this raid that everybody has been bragging about. After doing all those extremely hard missions (sarcasm) I unlocked and completed the nightfall with ease with ransoms. Easy, right? Of course I get a crappy legendary void sniper, but I wasn't too bothered because I hoped for better in the raid...
I started off without knowing anything. A kind level 31 decided to guide my friends and I along through the raid. It took us about an hour to get from the start to Crota. All in all, not too shabby right?
This is where I complain.
We fight Crota. We learn new tactics and look some up via YouTube. We try them. Surely enough, 4 level 30s and 2 31s can't bring him down past 80% health. After about 3-4 hours of doing it, they all quit and turn off our consoles. I managed to form up a full lobby of 31s (total of 5, for I am a 30) TWICE and we try for a good 30-60 minutes with each lobby. Never brought him down past 55%.
Wake up today. Do my errands, blah blah. I wanted to complete the raid today. I was tired of what happened last night, so tonight will be better, right? I gather 5 level 31s, this time experienced, and we still could not do it even with extreme communication. I tried this raid today for 5 hours (yes I do have a life, I play at night).
Basically what I am saying is that this Crota boss, at its current form, is a tad too hard. For 5 level 31s and 1 30 (which WERE the top and strongest guardians) with all maxed out gjallahorns, vex, and ice breakers, not to be able to take down a simple boss in 5 hours? There's a problem.
I know some of you may say it's easy, but for me, it's not. I don't have a raid group. I solo most things. But when top of the crop guardians join my fire team for 5 hours and can't do it? I have something to say. Luckily, I can express it here :)
So do you guys think he is too hard? Especially when he's going to be even harder? I know it's early to judge. But atheon was no where near the power of Crota's during release! Atheon had to rely on self-reviving minotaurs to save him and still does to this day.
Needless to say, I'm quite over with Destiny. I do not enjoy doing the same thing over and over for nearly 12 hours in a video game. It's frustrating personally. And yes,
Forum tears collected 1/100
I know what to do during the raid. It's honestly not hard in my head. It's just somehow, somebody manages to screw up and I'm never sure how. No need for tips and pointers/ hate, for this thread is mostly a complaint thread and asking if Crota is a little bit too hard and maybe his health needs a reduction, just by the slightest bit?
-
He is not hard at all. He is just a stupid stillstanding -blam!-. The problem is that you cannot rely on anything, so the timing is -blam!-ed up over and over again. Ogres spawning too late, swordbearer spawning too late, his shield is down but he's not kneeling down, he's hitting in an instant from kneeling making it impossible to jump away, etc. It's not hard...it's just broken and nowhere near the word "tactical". It's also boring as -blam!-, making it a real pain in the ass if you cannot get the one perfect run.
-
I feel like beating crota's is about getting in a groove. If your timings off you're gonna fail, your teams timing has to be perfect so you can get max damage to crota.
-
Sadly this may be what drives me away too. I've been rabidly going back into CE over the week with my group, and we're still on Crota. We had really good attempts and could have gotten it done, but someone left which caused his friend to leave. One of my main friends joined another party looking for extras but he got sucked in and did it with them, and my other main friend got tired of waiting and left, causing his buddy to leave. He later joined in with that other group. At this point I basically have nobody to do it with, and I'm not quite sure I want to fire up the game again to hear about all the great stuff my friends got from leaving me behind seeing as at least one of them is known to lord it over people while the other builds group strategies around weapons ignoring the fact that someone might not have them. He's been doing it to me with the Gjallarhorn and Mythoclast, and I don't really want the Black Hammer to join that list. Anyone who wants tears, reap away. I probably won't be on too much for a week or more so they'll have plenty of time to settle and breed malaria.

Beginning of vog it was pulling teeth getting a random group to beat atheon even when we all knew what was going on. As people get their fingers in the raid the chances of finding a solid group will get better
-
Obviously you are your pals are not experienced, can be done within 7 minutes easy
-
Crota is easier then atheon

To address your "unlockable content" comment: We downloaded a 2+GB patch a few weeks ago that was datamined to have DLC content in it. That's where most of your DLC came from, not the disc. We did download it, just in batches, so that the servers wouldn't take a pounding launch day with millions of people trying to download a couple of gigs at the same time. Just wanted to clear that up. Good luck finishing the raid though.
-
His health is fine, if the 31's you were with couldn't do it then they weren't good. Just how it is, beat him twice last night. I usually raid with randoms too so I feel you on how it can be annoying. Just be glad it isn't like a raid/dungeon in an actual mmo, brother was doing one for 5 hours and couldn't clear it because they got a shitty boss spawn that couldn't be killed or something, he said something about how mana drain was too quick.
-
Wait for weapon upgrades. I'm thinking that will make a huge difference.
-
It should be hard so hard it is almost impossible, but its far from that its acutally to easy
-
Its not that hes hard, its the mechanics of the fight there awful. Its completely based on timing and luck. Skill has no part of this fight at all. Ive beaten it once but ive played many hours to beat him and we have tried again and failed the boss fight needs to change to test players skill, not timing.
-
Took us about 3 hours to beat it 2x tonight. Finally had a good team.
-
H0ly shit. Are people honestly complaining that content is too difficult? Players cleared the raid in the first -blam!-ing day of release. PC MMO's would chew you up and spit you out, you filthy casual.
-
I mean he is suppose to be a god........ But honestly I haven't done it yet an am anxious to try but I have heard some mixed reviews and it makes me s bit nervous
-
It's half assed, lazy developed and easy. No idea why they charged us for such a short little raid.
-
I honestly think crota is to easy...
-
All about timing. Also a Titan using weapons of light on whoever is about to grab the sword is good that extra damage means you can bring him down in about 4 swords
-
Geeze, sure were some kinda bad people you were playing with, my group, we did crota with 3 31's, 1 30, 2 29's
-
I think you just got shafted with unskilled players. Since anybody can get to lvl 31 now, you are going to just have a lot of crappy teammates. I havent tried crotas end yet and im just going to have to find randoms cuz my friends are not that good. So if anyone wants to help a lvl 31 titan in the near future add psn: timwa. P.s. i dont suck and i listen lol
-
It doesn't look like you had the top of the crop.
-
DestinyLFG is your friend. I have beaten Crota three times already with a complete group of strangers each time. A good word of advice is to make sure the players you are with are competent. I suggest looking at their grimoire score or their play time. It is usually a good sign if they are decent or not. In terms of taking down Crota, I did it (my fastest run yet) in 3 relic rounds (6 sword attack rounds total).
-
Beat crota twice with 3 30's and 3 31's main thing is timing and having a good relic holder.. this boss is by no means hard nor should he be nerfed... It's ment to be a challenge that not everyone can beat. . You want an easy boss pull out a n64 and play mario lol crota can be beat just gotta get the right routine for the fight
-
It's not too hard it's actually pretty easy once you get some momentum. You say you know how to do it yet you prolly didn't complete it...
-
Same here even with three 31s who had beaten him before today we just couldn't seem to break him past half hp before he gets up and instantly slams the sword guy. So we try two hits and run... He fires off insta kill shots on a 31...try again? Chalice goes into the timestream with atheon. One last run? Everythings perfect...till...bring him down on a knee and boom insta pop up slashes sword guy. Oversoul, wipe. I'm sure I'll be able to get it at some point. But wow he sure doesnt show mercy at half health

Edited by AsylumxX: 12/14/2014 9:36:40 AMI actually enjoy the new raid but it still ruined Destiny for me because I feel like everything I've done up to this point was for nothing.
-
Dam man that sux I didn't have the time to finish it tonight but I'm not fussed I'll get there eventually
