As the title says - Nova Bomb by itself usually (not always, which is bad enough) will break against a Ward of Dawn, exploding and taking out the bubble while negating the initial explosion.
The split ability for Nova Bomb totally trumps this, however - which is absurd. All offensive supers can cancel eachother out by value of "I killed you first" - yet Ward of Dawn lacks this ability. It certainly doesn't seem balanced for a specific ability for a super to totally screw over an entire subclass' super.
Bungie, please get on that.

If a warlock has shatter (split ability) active then he gives up the vortex and lance abilities. The split nova bomb splits the damage between the three bombs (I have only tested it in pve and did not count the numbers up but there was a considerable damage drop) but I'm not sure about pvp. Not a fan of crucible.

It's a defender class, if you see a warlock activating the super, just drop the ward of dawn and it will protect you from the blast. I mean a hunter with bladedancer active can also just walk through the shield and kill you. Also noticed when a warlock walks into the shield and uses novabomb the explosion is even bigger, because the void energy can't get out. Playing with the ward of dawn is all about timing and defense, all other supers just require timing. So as a defense class instead of selecting weapons of light, select the shield and you will probably be fine after a novabomb.
