This has been going on for nearly two months for some players. The only thing I've read that seems to be a surefire fix is by purchasing a high end router, (the kind that runs several hundred dollars). Bungie still insists it's entirely on our end, and will most likely direct you to their "help" sight to have you change all your network settings, which will most likely do nothing to fix the problem.

yea that's what I was afraid of. like I said I played a bunch until the first update then boom. issues. its unfortunate but im kinda glad im not the only one with this issue. and these forums are hardly helping.. I have a Comcast Technicolor tc8305c modem which is supposed to be a good one. I just hope this gets resolved quickly... thank you for your input though.
