Unable to Play Destiny after DLC Purchase- WASP Error

Purchased the expansion pack today. It automatically downloaded to Xbox One. Have been unable to play Destiny since. When starting the game it starts 2 updates to be downloaded. One is 1.5Mb, the other is 70 or so MB. It stops on one or the other citing the WASP error. I've researched the WASP error and found the following recommended solutions from Bungie: - POWER CYCLE ROUTER - this has to be the dumbest recommended solution I have ever heard for a console game. Yet Bungie gives it for nearly EVERY error code. Tried it - twice - IT DOESN"T WORK. - POWER CYCLE THE CONSOLE - another dumb solution, but have tried a dozen times. DOES NOT WORK. - CLEAR CONSOLE CACHE - performed a dozen times. DOES NOT WORK - UNINSTALL ADD-ONs - like the DLC I just purchased. Uninstalled - DOES NOT WORK - UNINSTALL / REINSTALL DESTINY - this one cracks me up. Did this --- DOES NOT WORK So what's left Bungie? Spent $60 on a game - $35 on an expansion pack - and now it doesn't work. Are you going to even try to address this issue or just keep giving the same stupid recommended solutions you give for everything?

  • This is a non-issue for me right now. I haven't played Destiny since Christmas when I got Dragons Age: Inquisition. Been playing that game ever since. (no, not all the time,,, have to work, holiday travel etc.) The game isn't an FPS, but it is HUGE. Great story, characters, puzzles, fighting, wonderful story. The writing for the characters is awesome. Voice acting can be a bit wonky sometimes, but it's ok. LOVE this game. Oh, and this game requires a connection to EA servers to play,,,, and NOT ONCE have I been kicked off or had any error codes while trying to perform an update. May pick Destiny back up some other day,,, it just got boring to me. Especially since there isn't automatic match-making for Raids and such.

    • I get this every few weeks. And I CANNOT get on no matter what I do. I love this game, but I spent $100 for Bungies good name from Halo. But this is ridiculous. Please look into this!

    • Hi Wildcat, I'm really sorry you are hitting this WASP issue. Generally, this error occurs when downloading a patch or update goes awry and the console gets into a strange state. Your Xbox One is told repeatedly to download some files but not all the files get to the right spot or the files don't send the message saying 'we are all here'. The troubleshooting steps you are taking all work to ensure that the files downloaded are fully cleared out and you can start fresh. In many cases, this can work to clear out minor hiccups in the download process. That isn't the case here and I apologize you've had to go through so many steps. I didn't notice in the post, but are you using a wireless or wired connection? I would like to ensure that a weak connection isn't causing the update process to have an issue. Please note, speed isn't always correlated to connection strength and packet-loss can have a real impact, even if speedtests on a computer say your bandwidth is awesome. If you can, also, please try connecting your console directly to the modem, skipping the router entirely. Clear your cache, and then try again. Although unlikely, there are also reports of players having network gear that impacts their ability to download updates/patches. As an absolute final troubleshooting step, you can try bringing your console to a friend's and to download your update there. Although I normally don't suggest this, in rare cases this can work.

      • Mine does the same thing but it is every time I start my game up...it keeps doing the same two updates. Sometimes it works and I get to play and other times I get a nest of wasp. I literally mean every time I start up my one it redownloads the same two updates without fail. Why bungie why.

          • UPDATE: After the DLC 'official' release time - all issues magically disappeared. Folks - that is a Bungie - Development-Testing-Process-Controls problem. I've been in this business for 20 years and this should never have happened. By the numbers: 1. Xbox 360 (Home) - had NO issues. Worked perfectly throughout because I didn't purchase the Expansion Pack until this afternoon for the 360. 2. Xbox One (Home) - purchased Expansion pack. WASP error as described. NOTHING resolved. 3. Xbox One (Office) - did NOT download the Expansion pack. NO issues encountered. 4. PS3 - (Home) - purchased expansion pack. WASP error as described. NOTHING resolved. All of these consoles are on the same network and router. The only consoles which experienced the issues were those with the Expansion Pack. So for Bungies primary resolution tips for power cycling the router, consoles and/or uninstall/reinstall,,,, well that's just BS. It is clear the problem was with the Expansion Pack alone. I've loved Halo and Bungie for years, but this is sad and pathetic. Between all the story, content and game issues,,,,,and now obvious poor development practices and processes. Very disappointed with them thus far.

            • I agree this error code is very dumb. I got the expansion pass Saturday night and the same exact thing happened to me where as soon as I went into the game it would give the 1.5mb 75mb and 770kb updates and then go to error code wasp. Uninstalled and it wouldn't reinstall for hours and finally just left it over night and it finished and worked. AND now it's happening again. Ridiculous, but as I'm posting this it miraculously loaded so I hope they find a solution to fix this problem, it seems that it's just trying to reinstall updates that it has already installed therefore producing and error?

              • This is absolutely ridiculous. This wasp error is just BS. This is the SAME exact update I am stuck downloading over and over again. Are they even acknowledging this is a problem?
