Great! This is basically how the armor system works in DC Universe online. Keep the better armor underneath but switch out the skins for a style you like. That's a really important part of that game since you're basically creating your own superhero, and the costume is 80% of the appeal. Another maybe simpler idea is to just allow you to pick perks from a list before you buy. I like these pants! do I want extra ammo for AR, scout ammo, hand cannon etc. Pick only one and lock it in with the purchase.
