Well seeing as I have yet to do the VoG I guess my answer is yes....
I'm unfortunate to have zero friends who play destiny and seeing as matchmaking doesn't exist on raids I'm either stuck trying to invite randoms via xbox message or standing around in the tower until some random invites me to the Raid (this has yet happened - guess I'm screwed!)

I recruit people by doing strikes and if they are good players who revive and show a general awareness for the team then shoot them a FR, if they are impetulant American children who blame others for their shortcomings then mute and move swiftly on. Not bashing Americans as I have a lot of solid ones on my FL but 8-9 times out of 10 if it happens it's an adolescent American.

Haha fair enough! Well I'm a brit, 27, married with 2 kids - so the only time I mute the mic is the tell the kids to shut the eff up!!

Try recruiting on these forums or the website which helps players find groups to play with. I was in the same boat as you (even though my first raid was because people invited me from the Tower). I've managed to beat the Raid twice by finding randoms to play with because no friends of mine are prepared for raids.

Thanks for the tip. Honestly I'm not overly fussed on the raids. I'm just a curious beaver and like to do stuff so I feel I NEED to do the Raid (think I have a mild ocd) Any who's, cheers for the heads up!
