I don't hear a lot about pulse rifles, Besides Red Death.
In my experience, it's the most awkward weapon to be consistently good with.
We always hear about autos, hand cannons and scout rifles, but not too much talk about pulse rifles.
Am I sensing a trend? Is it just me?
Edit 3:
Been a long time coming. The upcoming weapons patch, along with Bungie's stats clearly show that pulse rifles are the least favourite weapon and also most underpowered.
I've been kicking ass the oversoul edict. It's actually one of the exceptions. With the buff, this gun will rule the crucible and arc burn nightfalls

I have 2 bad seed downs and a super pov vlo. Not feeling bad seed, although they have good perks. One has full auto, the other has headseeker. I wish i had one with both.

My issue is the damage seems lower than scouy rifles overall, and missing with a pulse is more punishing than with a scout.
Scout rifles seem better than pulse rifles in every way.

Bad Juju ftw.
-
No. The Stranger's Rifle is amazing for PvP.
-
I just wish bad juju were better...

With the fact that I naturally aim for head shots the semi auto action of scout rifles and hand cannons work the best for me. I honestly tried to work pulse rifles into it but the recoil they have and the fact that I'm using 3 rounds compared to one kinda sets them at a lower value to me.

The Red Death with its healing perk is a God amongst Pulse Rifles!

Praedyth's Timepiece *drops mic*

Edited by Axiszero: 11/29/2014 7:36:12 AMPulse rifles aren't so bad a weapon nowadays: they provide decent accuracy and impact while giving you leeway for you to miss shots. An example would be my The Conduit from FWC. Now I don't use it often because I prefer hand cannons and scout rifles, but when I tried it out in crucible, it ain't half bad. It was quite good with headshots. I haven't fully upgraded it but the perks seem to work nicely together. Now I'm considering to go for either field scout + spray and play or flared magwell + spray and play when I reach the right level.

I must be weird, because I'm really starting to like pulse rifles. At least in PVE, anyway. On my first play-through I mainly stuck to scout rifles, however, on my second time through, I noticed how great pulse rifles were. Each of the three rounds in each burst does about as much damage as a single scout round, so it's like it's doing 3x the damage of a scout rifle with each pull of the trigger. Less tiring on the old trigger finger. Plus, its more accurate than an auto rifle. Best of both worlds.
-
Use it like the be in halo
-
The raid pulse rifle is pretty good, but I've been using Bad Seed Down. It shoots full auto and increases precision damage after body shots. It has really good stability and is really good in crucible. I would have kept using the Strangers Rifle, but it stops being useful aghanst higher level enemies.
-
I love my red death but the others suck. They have little impact and a slow rate of fire. If we only had the old battle rifle from halo.
-
Red death is amazing. The healing perk is amazing in general and it's a two burst kill with headshots in the crucible.

i really enjoy the red death
-
Timepiece is the only pulse rifle I actually enjoy using :) it's actually rather decent
-
I feel the same as you. I got Bad Seed Down (Vanguard) from a Nightfall and I thought I'd give it a shot (pun intended), but I can't really use it for too long before getting frustrated. Takes me twice as long to kill enemies I can one-shot w/ a scout (most of the time).
-
Hate pulse rifles
-
Praedyth's timepiece = constant fire of arc pain. All you have to do is time the trigger pulls and it will seem like it never stops firing. Some pulse rifles are crap, but others like the timepiece and red death are rather good
-
Got a Superpox VLO today from the Cryptarch with Glass Half Full, Full Auto, and Flared Magwell. Idk if it'll be any good, and I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds like it could be awesome.
-
Are you freaking kidding me? I get amazing scores by using Stranger's rifle, four shot kill. I can usually take on auto rifles and win (sometimes). That gun is beast!
-
WHOA WHOA WHOA the F U C K you hearing this shit? Praedyths Time Piece Rarest Legendary in the game And it's an amazing pulse rifle It's so hard to acquire.... And it rarely drops

I use Bad juju the other day and got 32 kill on that pvp match. But I believe half of it is CM did the job thou. Lol. But then found new way to use bad juju to his advantage is the distance. Mid range and if you're good at headshot it can take ppl out very fast cause of the rate of fire plus u can take on another fight without reloading. But if u hit ppl at body it feels like hitting tire. Lol. Overall it's fun to kill ppl with the gun that ppl look down as things that can't kill. Upgrade it and try it out. Extremely good for some bounties cause u don't need to reload. And I'm bored of using same things over crucible all the time. HC Scout RedDeath. Time to change.

In both PvP and PvE scouts and handcannons are waaay better choice than a pulse rifle.

They bad, yes. Only one I have any use for whatsoever is Bad Juju after String of Curses upgrade. All the other ones suck, raid one is terrible even. Don't have RD so idk about that. Pulses need an all-around buff for sure.

Red death and Strangers riffle are the only good ones
